Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour is back in full swing and she made a mistake that sent her fans into a tail spin.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, during her concert Swift sings two surprise songs during the acoustic portion of her shows. The songs are ever changing titles from her vast discography and are usually songs she’s never sang live before.
During Night 2 of her stop in Tokyo, she was trying to explain just that when she told the crowd, “I have selected two brand new songs I have never performed,” and her fans went crazy.
Taylor Swift Made a Mistake on Stage That Sent Her Fans Into a Tail Spin: ‘Oh My God, I’m So Sorry’
When the crowd went wild, Swift realized she had messed up. What she was trying to say was that she had never “performed them live. They’re brand new live. They are not from the new album. Oh my God, I’m so sorry.”
Oops! But that’s far from the first time her tour has made headlines.
Who could forget this moment when Taylor Swift sang a song she hadn’t sung in 11 years on stage at her latest concert. But before she did so, she gave her fans a warning.
It’s not often that Swift tells her fans how it is, but as she gears up to re-release her album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), she’s telling her fans to keep the ridicule to a minimum.
Taylor’s fans, or Swifties, as they call themselves, are known for being very intense and protective of the singer. For instance, when she released her Red (Taylor’s Version) album, many of her fans went after actor Jake Gyllenhall, who many have speculated the song, All Too Well is about.
Now, with the re-release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), Taylor Swift is asking her fans not to do that again with singer John Mayor, who many speculate the song Dear John is about.
“So I want to talk to you a little bit about this because Speak Now is an album that is so incredibly important to me. This was an album that I wrote between the ages of 18 and 20 and I wrote it completely alone without any collaborators. It was something I wanted to do to, I think to prove to myself. And I ended up writing a really, really intense magical album.”
She continued, then with a warning for her fans. “I was hoping to ask you that as we lead up to this album coming out, I would love for that kindness and that gentleness to extend onto our internet activities. So what I’m trying to say is, I’m putting this album out because I want to own my music. I’m 33 years old. I don’t care about anything that happen to me when I was 19, expect the songs I wrote and the memories we made together.”
“So what I’m trying to tell you is that I’m not putting this album out so that you should feel the need to defend me on the internet against someone you think I might have written a song about 14 billion years ago. I do not care we have all grown up, we’re good.”
As Mamas Unit previously reported, there has been no shortage of viral snippets to come out of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour so far. From her yelling at a security guard to stop mid-song to accidentally eating a bug, these rare moments, combined with her entire discography, have left her fans very entertained!
During her Chicago shows, Swift all of sudden started choking. Several concertgoers caught the moment on video as she suddenly pulled the microphone away to cough. Swift quickly recovered, returning to her microphone to reveal that she had accidentally swallowed a bug.
“I just swallowed a bug, I’m so sorry” she said rather casually. “It’s just so stupid. Delicious. Oh, god. Is there any chance none of you saw that? It’s fine… I’m just gonna try not to do as many of those. This is gonna happen again tonight. There’s so many bugs. There’s one thousand of them.”
This moment comes after Swift went viral for defending a group of concertgoers who were being harassed by a security guard. You may have already seen the video, but in case you missed it:
