Taylor Swift’s album ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ returns to number one

Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, pushing Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday 2’ down to No. 2 in its second week of release.

Taylor Swift’s album is spending its fourth (non-consecutive) week at No. 1. 1989 (Taylor’s Version) re-enters and holds the top spot in the final week before Christmas is not surprising, as the session Vinyl copies of the singer’s albums have had huge sales thanks to people buying Christmas gifts.

Taylor Swift currently holds many music records

Taylor Swift’s dominance in music charts gives her the ability to set more records. This is Taylor Swift’s 67th week with an album at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, tying her with Elvis Presley as the solo artist with the most weeks atop the chart. If 1989 (Taylor’s Version) continues to hold the No. 1 spot on the chart for another week – which she has a nearly 100% chance of doing – then Taylor Swift will move ahead of Elvis Presley.

However, the female singer still cannot maintain the highest position if the word “solo” is removed. The all-time record is currently held by The Beatles, who have been at No. 1 on the album chart for 132 weeks, nearly double the number that Taylor Swift and Elvis Presley have currently. It will take her many more years to beat The Beatles’ record. But Swift is only 34 years old and still very active in her career, so no one can think that The Beatles’ record will stand forever.

Taylor Swift and Elvis Presley’s 67 weeks at No. 1 put them both far ahead of the rest. Garth Brooks had an album at No. 1 for 52 weeks, followed by Michael Jackson with 51 weeks.

Taylor Swift’s dominance is even more clearly marked when she has 3 albums in the top 10 best sellers: 1989, Midnights (3rd place) and Lover (7th).

Billboard did not release Taylor Swift’s vinyl sales or total album sales when releasing chart news for the week. But it’s clear that the singer is dominating the actual sales.
