Chargers HC Brandon Staley set to be fired barring any ‘miracle’ owing to team’s poor performances

Brandon Staley is currently in the hottest seat in the entire league per reports.

NFL head coaches aren’t having a good time in the ongoing season. Two head coaches, Josh McDaniels and Frank Reich, have already been axed in the middle of the season for their poor performance. And now, the Los Angeles Chargers‘ head coach Brandon Staley might be in the hottest seat in the entire league, according to reports.

On Tuesday, the Bleacher Report’s NFL insider Jordan Schultz took to social media to report that Staley’s mediocre tenure in Los Angeles might come to an end soon unless the Chargers turn their season around.

Staley—barring a miracle down the stretch—is out with the Los Angeles Chargers and the reason is they have not had sustained regular season success, they have only been to one playoff game in 3-plus years that was a catastrophic loss against the Jaguars.

Furthermore, Schultz also noted how the Chargers’ defense has been letting down their team in a major way. Staley — who used to be a defensive coordinator — can’t seem to figure out his defensive unit which consists of multiple Pro Bowlers including Khalil Mack and Derwin James.

Their defense is consistently [in] the bottom half, or in this case, this season, bottom five across every major statistical category, including total defense, which is dead last.

In the ongoing season, the Chargers have the same number of wins as the Washington Commanders and the Chicago Bears, despite starting the season as a Super Bowl contender. So, the disappointing campaign can result in Staley getting axed by the Los Angeles-based football team in the off-season.

If he does get fired, the Chargers head coaching job would be one of the desired roles in the league since they have stability in quarterback position and also a great roster around him.

Brandon Staley and the Chargers looking for a miracle

The Chargers led by their head coach Brandon Staley currently have an ugly record of 4 wins and 7 losses. They are currently out of the playoff picture and are hoping for a miracle turnaround to their season.

They have a tough stretch of games ahead of them and would be facing multiple Super Bowl contenders and the Denver Broncos twice in their remaining games.

If the Chargers can somehow survive that tough stretch and qualify for the postseason, they would still need to register at least a playoff victory for Staley to keep his role in LA. They will start the final run of their season with a tough road game against the New England Patriots this Sunday.
