Kansas City’s superstar tight end is joining forces with Kodiak to donate meals through Operation Breakthrough in Kansas City.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is enjoying as busy a season as just about any NFL player, but he’s still finding ways to give back to his local community. This time around, he’s got some help as well.
On Thursday morning, it was announced that Kelce is teaming up with Kodiak to donate 25,000 meals to Kansas City youth through Operation Breakthrough. Kodiak, a popular breakfast brand known for its items filled with protein and whole grains, is a company Kelce has been invested in since 2022.
Kelce issued a statement on his partnership, per PR Newswire:
“Joining forces with my friends over at Kodiak to fuel the Operation Breakthrough families is a total privilege. Alongside Kodiak, a brand I love, we will be making a meaningful difference in the day-to-day life of hundreds of Kansas City kids, and I couldn’t be more excited to make this happen,” shared Travis.
This is another nice gesture in a long series of them for Kelce during his time in Kansas City. Since joining the community back in 2013, he’s partaken in a handful of charitable efforts and was even the Chiefs’ nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award back in 2020. Kelce’s 87 & Running Foundation is youth-focused and has enhanced the lives of countless children and their families.
Operation Breakthrough is a close friend of Kelce’s. Over the years, the All-Pro tight end has donated significant time and money to their efforts in advocacy, education and other forms of aid. He and his foundation have worked with Operation Breakthrough to form an 87 & Running Robotics Lab and a cutting-edge Ignition Lab: Powered by 87 & Running. These labs provide students with opportunities to learn more about the important STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) realms.
Now over a decade into his professional career, Kelce continues to find new ways to make a difference in Kansas City. In recent years, the Chiefs have benefitted from several on- and off-field leaders — Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, Justin Reid and Tyrann Mathieu, to name a few — teaming up with local businesses and their own foundations to help children and families alike. Thanks to Kelce and Kodiak, some of those efforts will continue while the players wrap up their 2023-24 season.
