CJ Stroud has some strong words for Cam Newton, who called 49ers QB Brock Purdy a ‘game manager’

Cam Newton invited trouble with comments against Brock Purdy.

The Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud, who had a great rookie season, seems to be a huge fan of the former signal caller Cam Newton. In an interview with Newton, the quarterback openly stated that he was a fan of him and he was influenced and motivated a lot by him when he started his career.

This came after the former quarterback praised him for his contribution to the team in his rookie season. Cam Newton said that Stroud achieved more in his rookie season than him.

The former signal caller said in the 4th and 1 podcast:

We didn’t make it to the playoffs, we didn’t win. You won, and you made that sh*t look s*xy, you were standing on business. It wasn’t even your performance as much as you defying the odds… That market that you went in, it wasn’t set up for you to win like you won. 

Cam Newton saidPraising Newton back in the same podcast, Stroud said that Newton was his motivation when he started his career. Both of them had good seasons in college football, and he cited that in funny attire also.

"I was a huge fan of yours…and still am. You were the QB I looked up to since I was a kid."

CJ Stroud then said:

Before the show started I was a huge fan of yours. I still am. You were the quarterback I watched. In your college days, honestly, you played at Auburn. You gave me a lot of motivation at that day by throwing the ball at me. You played catching, back number, back number 20, back number 30, 40. You looked at me, you wanted to win.

Cam Newton received severe backlash recently

A few days back Cam Newton called Brock Purdy a game-manager and not a game changer. He was then subjected to heavy criticism. The San Francisco 49ers fans were furious against him and expressed their discontent over the comment that Newton made.

Not only fans but also the analysts and the officials from the other teams criticized the former signal caller. Newton, to a point, did not hold back. Despite tweaking his statement a bit, he stood by what he originally stated. But after a point, he admitted that he loves Purdy amid all the controversy.

After earning the wrath of the Niners fans, Newton can get some appreciation from the Houston Texans fans for his praise of CJ Stroud.
