Colin Cowherd BELITTLES Brock Purdy and compares him to Jimmy Garoppolo days after 49ers lost the Super Bowl

Colin Cowherd shared his hot take on the Fox Sports show The Herd.

It’s been just a few days since the Brock Purdy-led San Francisco 49ers suffered a heartbreaking loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. But, people are already on the neck of the second-year quarterback despite his remarkable season. In that trend, the Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd has now belittled Purdy while comparing him to the former Niners QB Jimmy Garoppolo.

During a recent episode of the Fox Sports show The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the show host pointed out the differences in the way the Niners faithful treated Garoppolo and Purdy. Cowherd said the fans hated Garoppolo more since he was not a relatable guy.

Jimmy Garoppolo took nothing but crap as he guided the Niners to the Super Bowl. Jimmy Garoppolo looks like a movie star. Jimmy Garoppolo was traded for and rich. He was coveted, most men aren’t. Brock Purdy is you, overlooked, called Mr. Irrelevant, not making any relative to the salaries of the NFL money.

Furthermore, the veteran analyst went on to talk about how Garoppolo and Purdy led the 49ers to the Super Bowl, but Cowherd mentioned that the former did it with much less offensive help than the latter. Cowherd said that Purdy had 5 Pro Bowlers with him in the offense just to do the same thing as Garoppolo, i.e., losing to Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.

Cowherd then went on to point out how nobody blamed Brock Purdy for his missed throws during the Super Bowl, but Jimmy G got slammed for his bad throws 4 years ago. During the entire segment, Cowherd kept trying to push the narrative that Purdy and Garoppolo had similar runs in San Francisco, which is simply not true.

Colin Cowherd is wrong about Jimmy Garoppolo-Brock Purdy comparison

During a recent episode of the Fox Sports show The Herd, show host Colin Cowherd kept trying to say that Brock Purdy and Jimmy Garoppolo had similar kind of contributions in San Francisco. But it is simply not true.

Garoppolo played 6 six seasons with the 49ers and failed to register a single 4000-plus passing yards campaign. On the other hand, Purdy, in his first full year as a starter registered 4,280 passing yards. Furthermore, Purdy also registered 31 passing touchdowns in the season, which is also something that Garoppolo never did in his six years with the team.

Purdy finished as one of the finalists for the MVP awards in 2023 despite coming off an elbow injury to start the season. Garoppolo had never been involved in MVP conversations in his career.

In short, Purdy has already done a lot more in San Francisco in 2 years than what Jimmy G did in more than half a decade. So, Cowherd’s narrative that Purdy and Garoppolo are the same is simply untrue.
