Cowboys LB Micah Parsons BOLDLY claims he desires to become the greatest Hall of Famers after just two years in the NFL

Parsons holds Hall of Famer DeMarcus Ware as his idol.

Every football player dreams of two achievements in life: No. 1 becoming a Super Bowl winner, and No. 2 being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as one of the best of the best. Dallas Cowboys Micah Parsons has similar aspirations in life, as he has set his sights on wearing the coveted Golden Jacket after his retirement.

“When you talk about great careers, you talk about the Hall of Fame,” Parsons revealed to ESPN. “I don’t just want to make the Hall of Fame [but] to be known as one of the greatest Hall of Famers.”

If the 24-year-old can continue on the same trajectory as his first two seasons at AT&T Stadium, then it will be a matter of when he becomes a Hall of Famer rather than whether he can. Parsons has been named All-Pro and a Pro Bowler during that time. Moreover, the linebacker also came in second for the Defensive Player of the Year Award in both seasons.

Heading into his third campaign, Parsons is implying a different approach. He admitted that during the offseason, he went through the process of bulking up. The Penn State graduate aims to play at 255 pounds in 2023.

Jerry Jones, too on his part, showed his support for his team’s LB while appearing on the Rich Eisen show before the 2023 Hall of Fame on Saturday. The Cowboys owner claimed he is looking forward to seeing Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott on that list someday.

While growing up, kids envision their idols and try to walk on the same paths. For football players, the Hall of Famers are like superheroes who could do anything on the field. Micah Parsons had the same impression of the recent Cowboys inductees, DeMarcus Ware and Chuck Howley.

Parsons draws inspiration from Ware, who played nine seasons for the Dallas Cowboys. The outside linebacker is their all-time leader in sacks with 117, and he finished his career with 138.5 sacks.

“Talk about a guy that set the standard,” Parsons told ESPN’s Todd Archer on Saturday. “[DeMarcus Ware] outright dominated in his prime and went out in the right way.”

Parsons revealed that he looked up to Ware’s IQ and tries to employ similar tactics in his play as well. Last season, he made 65 successful tackles in 17 games as the Cowboys reached the playoffs.
