Cowboys’ Micah Parsons blames the New York media for killing Zach Wilson’s confidence

The New York Jets’ season started in disastrous fashion and hasn’t gotten any better since then. They lost their star QB Aaron Rodgers to an Achilles injury in week 1 and were left with Zach Wilson as their starter for the remainder of the season. Wilson had a terrible start to the season and was replaced by Tim Boyle recently at the quarterback position. The third-year quarterback lost all his confidence after a lot of criticism following a string of poor performances.

During a recent edition of his podcast, The Edge, the Dallas Cowboys’ star linebacker Micah Parsons talked about Wilson. He defended the Jets’ QB and blamed the criticism he received from the media as the main reason for Wilson losing his confidence. Parsons also called Wilson a “good enough player to win games.”

A lot of you said, y'all wanted to get rid of Zach Wilson. Y'all shamed him. He got blamed by the media, he got blamed by everyone.
Coach [Robert Saleh] said that was their best option at quarterback. Zach Wilson's execution hasn't been great. But in reality, he's a good enough player to win games. Everyone cares about what your quarterback did, and if he performed enough and good enough to win.

He further talked about New York and its media:

He's in New York. New York's huge at football. And you guys deliberately killed this man's confidence. Y'all single-handedly broke him down.

Wilson was recently declared as the Jets’ starting quarterback for their week 14 game against the Houston Texans.

The Jets drafted Wilson second overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He has had a difficult start to his pro football career as he has thrown more picks than touchdowns in his two and a half seasons in the league. He will hope to get in some form in the last few games of this season.

Zach Wilson refutes the rumors of him not wanting to play again for the Jets

The New York Jets announced that Zach Wilson will be back as their starting quarterback on Sunday against the Houston Texans. Wilson was replaced by Tim Boyle in week 12, but the veteran QB had a terrible couple of games and is now replaced by Wilson again. The third-year signal-caller is expected to be the team’s QB till Aaron Rodgers’ return.

Wilson was asked on Monday about a recent report that he was supposedly reluctant to play again this season. Wilson refuted that and said:

I’ve never once said that to anybody in this locker room, that I wouldn’t want to play.

The Jets have lost their last five games and are 4-8 so far this season. They will hope to start a winning streak to end the season against the Texans on Sunday and Wilson will look to make the most of this second opportunity.
