Cowboys QB Dak Prescott labels CeeDee Lamb as the No.1 WR in the NFL currently

Prescott revealed that Lamb is still very young but very talented.

Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb connected for 11 passes during the New York Giants game and completed 150 yards and 1 touchdown. This made Lamb the sole record holder for catching 10 passes and 150 yards in the NFL in three consecutive games.

Even though on the day, veteran Brandin Cooks put up a staggering 173 yards (the best since his Saints day), it’s clear that Lamb is the No. 1 receiver in the Dallas Cowboys locker room. However, according to Prescott, the 24-year-old is not just the best in Arlington but also in the entire league based on his current form.

He’s No. 1. He is the guy I throw to. I know the work he puts in. Talented guy. And he’s young. He’s scratching the surface. He’s special. It makes my job easy.

Lamb agrees with the assessment by his quarterback.

I’m the top receiver in this game, and there is no question about it. If there is, I’ll see you all again next week.

He had been underperforming at the start of the season, not being able to put up the numbers that everyone hoped he would. Analysts started throwing in the question of whether he had finally run out of steam. Few ever sounded the alarm that Lamb could even be a first-round bust.

However, the resurgence that began in the Chargers game with 117 yards changed the narrative despite losing against the Philadelphia Eagles. Lamb now has 975 yards, 4 receiving touchdowns, and 1 rushing touchdown in 9 games this season. He is well on course to cross the 1359 yards that he set last year.

CeeDee Lamb returned the compliment

A receiver can’t win a football game on his own. It’s a team game, and the most important position is the quarterback. If he is not taking the lead, then the offense doesn’t produce. That’s usually not the case for the Dallas Cowboys, who have been rampant in most games they have played. If Lamb is the one taking the balls in the endzone, then the one providing the dime is Prescott.

Lamb, after the game, said,

He’s always in the zone. It’s just a matter of time before it comes into fruition. I’m happy for him, and we’re going to continue to do this for as long as we can.

Prescott’s 404 passing yards were his second-best in the NFL (the best came in during the Browns game with 502 yards in 2020). He also threw four touchdowns and one interception. Next, they will face a misfiring Carolina Panthers.
