Cowboys QB Dak Prescott rolls out cheeky advice for ‘struggling’ Patriots involving ex-teammate Ezekiel Elliott

Ezekiel Elliott played with the Cowboys for seven years.

The Dallas Cowboys played against the New England Patriots on Sunday. The Cowboys won the game on the back of a strong overall performance. The Patriots struggled to move the ball against a stout Cowboys defense, as they only scored three points. The game saw the return of RB Ezekiel Elliott to Dallas after being traded to the Patriots earlier this season.

The ex-Cowboy did not have a great game, as he carried the ball six times for just 16 yards. After the game, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott was seen exchanging pleasantries with his former teammates. Prescott talked about the Cowboys’ tribute video for Elliott and had some suggestions for the struggling Patriots regarding his former running back.

“They need to play him more,” Prescott told the reporters after the game. “But hey, who am I?” He also spoke about his team’s tribute to Elliott. “I talked to him after the game,” he said. “I’m sure that he liked the tribute. I loved the tribute. Thought it was pretty cool. … It was pretty cool just to see how Jerry and the Cowboys planned that video for him. Giving him the respect and the honor he deserves. He had a great seven years here. I wouldn’t be the player that I am without him.”

The Cowboys drafted Elliott fourth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. In his seven years with the Cowboys, Elliott established himself as one of the best running backs of the 2010s. He was traded to the Patriots in this year’s offseason.

The Cowboys share a tribute video for Ezekiel Elliott before the game

The Dallas Cowboys might have traded their former running back, Ezekiel Elliott to the New England Patriots this offseason but they haven’t completely forgotten about him. He spent his first seven years with the Dallas-based team, and the Cowboys acknowledged that by playing a tribute video for Elliott before their game against the Patriots on Sunday.

The Cowboys shared the video on their Twitter account with the caption, “Family Forever” with a blue heart emoji. Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones hinted this week that they were planning something like this but wanted to keep it a surprise. It was a nice touch by the entire organization.

Elliott is a three-time Pro Bowler and was selected for the All-Pro teams twice when he was with the Cowboys. He led the league in rushing yards in 2016 and 2018. He signed a one-year deal with the Patriots in August of this year.
