Dak Prescott expects to ‘grow’ consistently with CeeDee Lamb over the season after Cowboys’ offensive masterclass against the Rams

Prescott claimed their offseason hard work is finally paying off.

Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb connected two times last night in a 43-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. But just two matchdays ago, that telepathic connection between the pair appeared nonexistent.

In a devastating 42-10 loss against the San Francisco 49ers, Lamb only had 4 receptions for 49 yards. It fueled frustration into the young receiver, and the identity of a first-round pick was slowly fading away.

However, just a week later, there was a massive uptick in form against the Los Angeles Chargers, catching all seven balls for 117 yards. The bye week came at the wrong moment, as no one wants to break winning momentum. But a career high of 12 catches for 158 yards against the Los Angeles Rams yesterday has changed the narrative.

It definitely did, as nine of his catches and 122 yards came in the first two quarters. This forced the Rams defense to focus on him, and as a result, Dak Prescott managed to find players in wide open spaces. He lauded the 24-year-old’s professionalism.

A lot of trust in the guy. He runs and knows what I am thinking. That’s why, when it’s not going out of the way, it’s frustrating. But now we are reaping the rewards. This will only continue to grow.

Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb’s offseason work is finally paying off

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones did not opt to add much depth in the wide receiving department, despite players such as DeAndre Hopkins and Adam Thielen being up for grabs. He chose to stick with CeeDee Lamb and kept faith that he and Dak Prescott would be the main driving force for another good post-season run.

Besides the occasional hiccups, Jones’ view seemed to be working. And according to Prescott, it’s all thanks to the work they put in before the season began.

Nobody’s worked harder than us or put more work in than us in the offseason. We put a lot into this. And these last two games have been a big vision of that.

Prescott told Jon Machota of The AthleticPrescott knows that in the ‘National Football League’, nothing is guaranteed. For them to achieve their goal of winning the Super Bowl, they have to keep on churning out positive results.

It's the NFL. None of this is going to be easy. [But] that's when we have to be better. That's when we need to trust one another.

After the Rams game, CeeDee Lamb now has 308 career receptions. The Oklahoma graduate is now the fastest in Cowboys history to reach 300 career catches.
