Dallas Cowboys’ Johnathan Hankins desperate to beat 49ers this week after disappointing results against the arch-rivals over the last 2 years

The Niners will host the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football this weekend.

The Dallas Cowboys-San Francisco 49ers rivalry runs deep. From Dwight Clark’s THE CATCH in the 1982 NFC Championship game to the Niners demolishing the Cowboys (and Ezekiel Elliott) last season in the Divisional Round, the rivalry has provided us with some phenomenal moments. The Niners have had the Cowboys’ number in recent years, a sentiment that was acknowledged by the Cowboys’ NT Johnathan Hankins.

The Cowboys and the Niners have played each other in the playoffs for the past two seasons. In both those games, the Niners defeated the Cowboys and in both those games the Cowboys had a chance to comeback late in the game but failed to do so. Hankins opened up about his team’s recent record against the San Francisco-based franchise as they prepare to face each other next Sunday.

“Obviously the last two years they’ve had our number,” Hankins said. “So this game means a lot more to us than just a regular season game. Two of the best teams in our [conference], so we’ve got to turn the page and beat the 49ers, man.”

He further continued by saying, “So this week, we [are] definitely going to be more ready and attack these guys, I definitely think this is the year we get them. We just got to be clicking on offense, defense, special teams, and win this game as a team.”

The Cowboys have begun their season with three wins in four games. They won their recent game against the New England Patriots in blowout fashion. The Niners on the other hand haven’t lost a game through four weeks. Sunday Night Football is going to be a big one!

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones talks about the upcoming Cowboys-49ers match up

The Dallas Cowboys-San Francisco 49ers game on Sunday Night Football is going to be a very interesting one. Both these teams are prime contenders to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this season. The Cowboys have started the season 3-1 whereas the Niners are unbeaten through four weeks. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones talked about the upcoming matchup between the two rivals.

“They are, right now, probably the most likely team to go win the Super Bowl, but in order for them to get there, they have to go by us, hopefully two times if that’s the way it falls in the playoffs and we’re in the playoffs, of course,” Jones said on Tuesday. “But the bottom line is you’re playing the best. You don’t need the game to tell you you’re playing the best, but you need the game to show you how you stack up against the best.”

The game will held in San Francisco which will add another layer of difficulty for the Cowboys. The Niners have two of their three previous matchups since 2020. Both those wins came in the playoffs. The Cowboys will hope to even that record on Sunday.
