The Pro Bowl is an event for lighthearted competition en route to the Super Bowl. Yet the atmosphere got a little bit heated between Micah Parsons and David Njoku following their Madden 24 bout.

On Saturday, during the second day of Pro Bowl games in Orlando, Florida, the organizing committee held a Madden War between a pair of AFC and NFC players. The AFC team comprised Browns tight end David Njoku and Dolphins Tyreek Hill. They faced the NFC’s Micah Parsons of the Cowboys and Puka Nacua of the Rams.

They took turns controlling the game; Njoku and Nacua kicked off the first half, which went to the NFC. Hill, who is a video game buff, managed to reduce the scoreline, but Parsons led the NFC to a win.

Host Charissa Thompson asked the Dallas Cowboys pass rusher how Njoku performed during his half of football. This is what Parsons said:

I thought he did amazing. He made great adjustments. He obviously showed why Cleveland (the Browns) is Cleveland.

The 27-year-old Njoku could be heard shouting, and Hill also chimed in. Both sides had fun and taunted each other in a friendly manner, but Parsons took the jab up a notch.

David Njoku’s snarky reply to Micah Parsons

While the Dolphins star playmaker tried to pose as the devil’s advocate, the dice were already cast. Now, Njoku had no choice but to register a comeback. Although he claimed he was suffering from a bad voice, his words directed at Parsons were as clear as daylight.

The Cowboys linebacker’s statement targeted the state of the Browns franchise, which, barring the recent season, has remained in turmoil for quite some time. Just seven years ago, in 2017, they did not win a single game (0-16). Njoku, in the same manner, threw the ball into Parsons Court.

He replied back:

You know we got to understand this: ‘Clevland is Cleveland.’ But we are both here; we are both like playing this Madden game. So you got to make it sense.

Hill backed his Madden teammate up.

He has a good point, bro. We are all here.

What the AFC duo was trying to imply is that they wouldn’t be in Orlando and play video games if they were playing in the Super Bowl. The players from the two teams, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, did not participate in the Pro Bowl because they were preparing to compete in Las Vegas.

Both the Cowboys and Browns were knocked out in the wild-card round. For that reason, Njoku’s argument is correct. And to ask Parsons a question: if he’s ready to compare the Browns with mediocrity, then what about the Cowboys? They have been serial failures since they last tasted Super Bowl glory back in the early 1990s.
