Emmanuel Acho believes HC Mike McCarthy calling plays for Dak Prescott-led offense will make ‘no’ difference for the Cowboys

Mike McCarthy has taken over play-calling duties after Kellen Moore left the Cowboys at the start of the offseason.

Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys will have a reinvigorated offense next season with a new play caller in charge. Mike McCarthy will take charge of calling the plays after the termination of Kellen Moore.

However, Emmanuel Acho believes that the Cowboys won’t benefit from McCarthy at all. In fact, they could be looking at a comparatively worst offensive season next year.

The NFL analyst recently featured on FS1 SPEAK and gave his view regarding the newly improved Cowboys offense. According to Acho, Moore did a great job as a play-caller and the Cowboys had a fairly decent offense under him.

“I don’t think Mike McCarthy calling plays for the Cowboys will be the difference,” Emmanuel Acho stated on SPEAK. “Kellen Moore commanded 2 number 1 offenses with the Cowboys in just 5 years. Last year, they were a top-flight offense when Dak Prescott did play so the offense didn’t have that many issues. Mike McCarthy is trying to use a decoy to distract us from the fact that the Cowboys are under-performing.”

Emmanuel Acho believes that the Cowboys have a severely underperforming run-game and Mike McCarthy being in charge of the offense won’t change that. On the other hand, Dak Prescott has always performed well when played with a passing game instead of a running one.

Will Dak Prescott perform better under Mike McCarthy?

Mike McCarthy is the head coach of the Cowboys and has much more control in the game than the offensive coordinator. Last season, Kellen Moore was tasked with calling plays and Dak Prescott suffered massively because of it.

According to James Jones from SPEAK, Moore has always been caught up in his own system and offered little to no flexibility. However, that will change under McCarthy he will keep Prescott’s condition under check.

Usually, the QB is under massive pressure from the defenders and it is up to the play-caller to release that pressure from time to time. McCarthy’s flexibility will help Prescott release that pressure and in turn perform significantly better in high-octane games like the divisional round against the 49ers that they lost last season.

All things considered, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys have a difficult NFL season ahead. the team will have to perform better than last season and hopefully challenge for the conference at the least.
