‘Frustrated’ Micah Parsons claims Cowboys’ defense isn’t perfect amid Super Bowl aspirations

The Dallas Cowboys seem to have hit a major road bump after week 14. Although the team has improved to an 11-5 season record and clinched a playoff berth after the narrow victory against the Detroit Lions, they haven’t proved themselves as competent in road games. And Micah Parsons sees that very well!

No one had expected how the Sunday Night Football game turned out. If the Lions’ offensive tackle Taylor Decker hadn’t been penalized for illegal touching that annulled their two-point conversion, the team would have secured the victory against the Cowboys at 21-20. But instead, it ended with Cowboys narrow 20-19 win.

But the Cowboys are surely not satisfied with how things panned out. While addressing the matter, star defender Parsons admitted the team cannot afford to put themselves in that position again, to lose the game like that, especially in the playoffs games.

Parsons said when asked about the failed two-point conversion by their opponent:

I don’t even feel like we should have been in that position. How much we put into two-minute, how we pride ourselves on getting stops in the game, it’s definitely some things we got to fix. That’s something we’ve got to look at.

Micah Parsons said post-gameParsons expressed his frustration with how the Cowboys are unable to live up to their full defensive potential:

For me, it’s frustrating. I don’t know what’s going on. I know everybody sees what I’m facing and dealing with.

Micah Parsons expressing his frustrationFor future reference, the defender vowed to get better and figure out where the team is lagging and how.

Micah Parsons believes the Cowboys are close to ending the Super Bowl drought

One thing that Dallas’ star defender knows for sure is how far this team has come, regardless of the criticism in terms of road games. Parsons is confident in his team’s ability to end their longest drought of nearly three decades by climbing up the ladder in the playoffs.

Parsons said while admitting that his team is not perfect and there’s always room for betterment:

I think we’re close. I think we’re really, really, really freakin’ close but there is always room to get better.

Micah Parsons added

He also acknowledged that there are many teams with a better lineup than the Dallas, but at the end of the day, what matters is the “heart and dedication and what you put into it.”

Standing at 11-5, the Cowboys still have a chance to claim the NFC East divisional title if they beat the divisional rivals Philadelphia Eagles in terms of stats and numbers. However, if the team needs to cover most of the playoff distance, the defense needs to step up its game.
