RB Derrick Henry is reportedly signing a two-year contract deal worth $16 million with the Ravens.
Breaking news: The Baltimore Ravens are officially signing former Alabama running back Derrick Henry.
After getting super close to the Super Bowl last season, the Ravens are tightening all their loose ends this offseason. This begins with signing one of the most productive running backs across the league, Henry.
The former Alabama RB is joining the Ravens at their prime. Just last season, the franchise finished with the best record of 13-4 across the entire league. Though they couldn’t bring home the Vince Lombardi trophy, quarterback Lamar Jackson won his second NFL MVP award.
Free-agent Derrick Henry is signing a two-year, $16 million deal worth up to $20 million, including $9 million fully guaranteed in the first year with the Baltimore Ravens, sources tell ESPN.Reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Ever since the Tennessee Titans signed Tony Pollard over Henry this offseason, it was just a matter of time before the legendary running back secured a lucrative deal. The Titans chose Pollard and backup Tyjae Spears over Henry, leaving no chance for his return.
Now that he is with the Ravens, he has been paired with the reigning Most Valuable Player, Jackson, who is going to be nothing but a threat to the rivals.
With both J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards entering the free agency market, the Ravens needed the strong backing of a running back. Having Henry would also ease the burden on quarterback Jackson’s shoulders, who has been leading the franchise in rushing yards for the past five seasons.
Fan reaction to Derrick Henry signing with the Ravens
These recent few weeks have nothing but a boatload of surprises for the fans. First, it was the Titans’ decision to sign the former Dallas Cowboys running back instead of franchise-tagging Henry, despite his remarkable journey of a decade, which truly crushed the fans.
Then, their favorite running back going to the Ravens sent shockwaves amongst the fans.
