“I don’t think of a plan B!” ‘Confident’ Caleb Williams asserts he’ll be the No.1 pick in the upcoming draft

Caleb Williams addressed the media during the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

The 2022 Heisman Trophy Winner Caleb Williams is fairly confident about getting selected as the No.1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. At the NFL Combine, the QB revealed in front of the media that he does not have a plan B in his head. Instead, he is just waiting to be selected as the No.1 overall pick.

It’s not a thought in my mind. I don’t think that I am not going to be the No.1. I think I put in all the hard work, all of the time, effort, energy into being that. I don’t think of a Plan B, stay on Plan A and then when things don’t work out, find a way to make Plan A work.

Caleb Williams said

Williams is considered a generational talent. His skills at college football were highly praised. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2022, but his form declined in the next year.

However, that did not prevent him from being one of the favorites in this year’s draft class. This season, three quarterbacks are favorites to be selected as the No.1 overall pick. Those three are Williams, Drake Maye, and last season’s Heisman winner Jayden Daniels. All eyes are on them to see who gets selected as the No. 1 pick.

Since the Chicago Bears are currently holding the No.1 overall pick, Williams’ name is being linked to them. The speculation gathered more steam as soon as the season got over. However, the Bears’ management is still hesitant to trade their current QB Justin Fields. Hence, Williams’ situation still has a bit of uncertainty.

Caleb Williams was criticized for not doing medicals

Amid the NFL Combine hype, Caleb Williams was criticized by the fans for not taking the Medical exams. This triggered the fans as they questioned the mentality of the quarterback. According to CBS Sports, he was the first invitee to decline medical tests.

For the medical stuff, I’ll be doing the medical stuff, just not here in Indy. I’ll be doing it at the team interviews. Not 32 teams can draft me. There’s only one of me. So, the teams that I go to for my visit, those teams will have the medical. And that will be it.

Caleb Williams told reporters

Despite his questionable decisions, Caleb Williams remains at the top of many teams’ draft boards according to reports. He is still projected to be drafted as the first overall pick in the upcoming draft.
