Tom Brady Sr. recently revealed what Kraft told him about letting Tom Brady walk away in free agency.
The New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft, made a tough decision back in 2020. Following the 2019 loss, Kraft reportedly listened to his head coach, Bill Belichick‘s advice and let his quarterback, Tom Brady, walk away in free agency. And now, four years later, Tom Brady Sr. reveals that Kraft regretted his decision later.
During a recent interview with the Boston Globe, Tom Brady’s father, Tom Brady Sr. disclosed what the Pats owner, Robert Kraft, told him about letting the 3-time league MVP QB leave New England.
He just said, ‘I made a mistake.’ He told us that back in September. We don’t all make the right decisions, but he’s made a hell of a lot of good ones over the years.
Tom Brady Sr. told the Boston Globe
The alleged conversation happened back in September when the Patriots held a ceremony to honor Brady during their season opener game against the Miami Dolphins. Brady Sr. also claimed that his son winning with another team made Kraft very unhappy since Bill Belichick believed the quarterback’s playing days were over.
But I know that it galls him that Tommy went elsewhere and won. Not that he won, but that he won after Bill (Belichick) said he was done.
Tom Brady Sr. said
🏈🔊 In a surprising admission, Patriots owner Robert Kraft concedes, "I made a mistake" in letting Tom Brady go in 2020.

Tom Brady left New England back in 2020 free agency and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady flourished in Tampa Bay as he won a Super Bowl, 2 division titles, and 5 playoff games. However, after Brady left, the Patriots kept hitting new lows after every season. They couldn’t win a single playoff game in 4 years without him and Kraft finally decided it was time for him to move on from Belichick.
Tom Brady Sr. claims Bill Belichick ego ruined the Pats dynasty
Under the combination of Tom Brady and the ingenious head coach Bill Belichick, the Patriots dominated the NFL for more than two decades and won 6 Super Bowl rings together.

That number could’ve been higher, but Bill Belichick and the Patriots dumped Brady in 2020 and haven’t been the same dominating team ever since. Eventually, the Pats had to move on from Belichick after the 2023 season.

Amidst this, Brady’s dad Tom Brady Sr. told the Boston Globe in a recent interview that Belichick ruined the Patriots dynasty with his ego by letting the quarterback leave the New England-based football team. The Pats owner, Robert Kraft, also seems to feel the same way.
Nonetheless, Belichick hasn’t been the same since separating from Brady. He failed to land a head coaching job with any team in the off-season and his future in football remains uncertain.
