“I’m rooting for him,” Raiders Davante Adams shows complete support to interim HC Antonio Pierce amidst tumultuous season

Well, looks like the Las Vegas Raiders wouldn’t have to look elsewhere to pursue a head coach, as Davante Adams endorsed the name of interim HC Antonio Pierce to be the permanent head coach. The star wide receiver not only gave an individual vote for Pierce but, spoke on behalf of the whole locker room.

This season, the Raiders have been through a lot under head Josh McDaniels, which led to his eventual firing at the end of October, after a 3-5 season start. On his departure, linebackers coach Pierce was made the interim head coach. And ever since then, Raiders seemed to be following a redeeming path.

As Pierce took over as head coach, he made an impressive 4-4 record and transformed the whole culture around the team. And that’s the biggest reason why the star receiver Adams believes he can build the Raiders into a contending team.

While talking about the matter on Wednesday, Adams told the reporters:

It’s obviously who I wanted and that’s my vote, and I’ve been vocal about that. That’s basically how the whole locker room feels and With good reason. He’s come in and done a great job. He’s continued to win us over. It’s not just the comfortable thing. I think having AP here will be good for this organization. He kind of embodies what it means to be a Raider...So,definitely rooting for him.

Davante Adams to the reporters

Adams shared that he is rooting for Pierce to become the permanent head coach of the Raiders, as the two follow the same mentality and beliefs. These words coming from Adams may indicate that the receiver is planning to abolish the trade rumors, and likely stay with the Raiders under head coach Pierce.

What will happen if the Raiders pick Antonio Pierce as franchise head coach?

After the end of this regular season, the Raiders owner Mark Davis would have a tough decision to make, considering his interest in pursuing Rich Bisaccia. However, now that one of the most high-profile players has backed Pierce’s claim for the head coach’s job next season, Davis cannot afford to repeat his mistakes like that of McDaniels.

Since Pierce took over as interim head coach, he has established quite a good connection with the players and the whole of the locker room. Not just that, he grew up as a Raiders fan and has great knowledge of the team’s history and culture.

If Davis takes Adams’ words into consideration, there will be an easy transition as the players are already acquainted with him. Also, with a few more adjustments, Pierce has the potential to build a strong roster for next season.
