“It’s your fault…” Jerry Jones has a stern message for HC Mike McCarthy after Cowboys’ tough loss to the Bills

After the poor loss to the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones sent out a stern message to head coach Mike McCarthy, who is up for a potential contract extension. But it’s not what everyone thinks.

With the level of consistency that the Cowboys have shown this season, Jones couldn’t be more proud. And in that emotion, he credits the amazing coaching staff that head coach McCarthy built. And that’s the reason why after back-to-back wins and Super Bowl-contending performances in each game, this downfall in week 15 has hit the team more than it should have.

During his recent appearance on 105.3 The Fan radio, Dallas’ owner Jones talked about the brilliant coaching staff of his team, especially head coach McCarthy, saying:

He’s coached three playoff teams in a row. I think he’s done an outstanding job.

Jones shared that after Sunday’s loss against the Bills, he blamed his coaching staff for all the disappointments from the loss because they had done such a good job with the team that no one even expected such a blow-out loss. Jones added:

I frankly said to the (coaching) staff yesterday, 'You got us in this spot to be as disappointed as we are about the Buffalo game.
It’s your fault because y’all have done such a great job this year getting our team to have the expectations that we have (this season).'

With the Cowboys’ 10-4 standings, head coach McCarthy’s record with the team has reached 40-24 in the regular season. Jones didn’t mention anything about the potential contract expansion rumors relating to McCarthy, but based on his appreciation for the coach, it seems the rumors could be true.

Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy confident in Cowboys’ recovery

Amidst the ongoing criticism, head coach McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott have taken the responsibility to lighten the team’s spirit, upon their shoulders. It’s clear that the Cowboys cannot afford another inconsistent performance, especially as their playoff picture seems blurred.

With that in mind, the team needs to get past the week 15 loss and focus on the coming few week’s games. And as QB Prescott mentioned he’s positive that the team would recover its prominence. Head coach McCarthy also agrees with him on that.

The head coach told the reporters:

We've got to get better on the road, and we've got to be road warriors throughout the playoffs now because of this.

Given that, it has become more of a necessity for the team to bridge the gap between their home vs road games, if they plan to make it to the playoffs successfully.
