Jason Kelce says he can’t physically throw a baseball heading into Phillies’ first pitch. Here’s why

Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox are slated to be a part of the Philadelphia Phillies’ first-pitch ceremony for the team’s game against the Atlanta Braves.

But don’t expect the recently retired Eagles center to be firing one down the pipe. In fact, Kelce told fans he won’t be throwing a pitch at all. That, he said, will be something that Cox has to handle for him.

Why?

“To be clear (Fletcher Cox) is gonna have to throw it because my elbow doesn’t work,” Kelce wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

It makes perfect sense that a guy who spent 13 years as one of the best centers in the NFL might have some physical ailments, and you hope that Kelce can get that elbow fixed up sometime down the road.

But fans saw an opening with his post.

“Unretire and you won’t have to do it til next year,” one person responded.

“He said ‘my elbow doesn’t work’ like it’s raining outside,” another person wrote. “Hey man. Wanna throw the first pitch? Eh. My elbow doesn’t work. My henchmen can throw though. Like it’s not a big deal.”

Several fans — some with user names on X far too inappropriate to write here — came up with the idea of Kelce snapping the ball to Cox who would then make the pitch.

Doesn’t really matter, though.
