Jerry Jones strongly believes that the Cowboys are a Super Bowl contender this season under Dak Prescott’s leadership

The Cowboys are eager to end their long wait for the Super Bowl title in 2023/24.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is confident of his franchise’s Super Bowl-winning chances ahead of the all-awaited 2023/24 NFL season. Jones backed the partnership of franchise quarterback Dak Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy to find the perfect recipe for a successful season.

The Cowboys have not won the Super Bowl title since their dream run in 1995, but have had decent regular season runs in the last couple of seasons. They have notched up back-to-back campaigns of 12 wins in the regular season under McCarthy but have lacked that extra zing needed to win the elusive Super Bowl title.

The Dallas Cowboys suffered a heartbreaking exit from the NFL in the divisional round playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers last season. The offense led by quarterback Dak Prescott failed miserably, and their season ended with a 19-12 defeat.

Despite witnessing multiple heartbreaks over the past seasons, veteran owner Jerry Jones feels that they have enough quality to launch a challenge for the Lombardi trophy this season. However, he was also quick to acknowledge that the players need to work hard in the camp, that kicked off on the 24th of July this season.

“I certainly think—and came to camp with the idea in mind—that if we can have the kind of camp we wanna have, that we’ve got a team that can compete for the top spot. I don’t want to understate that, for sure,” Jerry Jones said during the training camp press conference.

“There’s a lot of work to be done, because we’re gonna play a lot of young players. But I think when you weigh it, you weigh where we’ve evolved over the last two or three years with our defense, you look at some of the talents we’ve got, you look at Dak [Prescott]. When I look at all those things, I think we’ve got a chance to be a contender.”

In reality, though, a lot of the Cowboys’ challenges for the Super Bowl will depend on the form of quarterback Dak Prescott. The 29-year-old had a disastrous season in 2022/23 leading the NFL charts in interceptions throwing 15 overall. If Dak Prescott is able to achieve his personal target of restricting his INT count to within double figures, America’s team would undoubtedly be serious contenders for the Super Bowl this season.
