Joe Biden declines to do the annual Super Bowl pre-game presidential interview for second-year running, CBS denies giving the spot to Donald Trump

The Super Bowl will take place on Sunday at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

This year’s Super Bowl will be played between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. In recent years, it has become customary to have an interview with the US President in the hours leading up to the Super Bowl. It appears that the custom is in danger of disappearing.

According to CBS News, President Joe Biden will not participate in any interview during the pre-game events before Super Bowl LVIII airs on CBS on February 11. This will mark the second year in a row that President Biden has turned down the opportunity, which typically draws an audience of tens of millions, even in the hours before kickoff.

President Biden also declined to speak to a news correspondent from Fox News Channel last year. The president’s Super Bowl interview announcements are typically made five days or more in advance of the game. The interview may make headlines for a few days and appear on morning and evening news shows on networks. Additionally, if the conversation is being broadcast live, it may be challenging to navigate.

CBS declined to book former President Donald Trump for the Super Bowl pregame interview after President Biden’s withdrawal. The reason given was that in the words of CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus:

We’re producing a football pregame show, not a political show.

Sean McManus saidCBS is apparently okay with one politician interviewing during the pregame segment, but not another politician.

A German reporter questioned the Chiefs coach regarding an online conspiracy theory stating that Taylor Swift has spent the entire season with Travis Kelce and the AFC’s top team in an attempt to help Joe Biden win reelection as president of the United States. Reid looked shocked by the question.

Reid said:

That’s way out of my league. Very similar to me speaking German. Listen, I appreciate the question. She’s been great. And we had a nice visit with President Biden, that’s about as far as I can go.

Andy Reid saidSwift has been following the Chiefs all season, but that’s not because she’s a top-secret operative attempting to stop Donald Trump from regaining the White House; rather, it’s because she’s in a romantic relationship with Kelce.
