Joel Klatt astonishingly claims Caleb Williams’ development makes him ‘far superior’ to Patrick Mahomes at this stage

Caleb Williams is projected to become the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft if he declares.

The USC Trojans Caleb Williams is currently the best quarterback in college football. He is also projected to become the next big thing in the NFL once he is done with his college career. Williams is projected to be the No.1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and is considered the greatest quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck, even better than Trevor Lawrence coming out of college.

Amidst this, Fox Sports broadcaster Joel Klatt made a shocking claim that Caleb is better than the Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was during his days at Texas Tech.

“But to be honest Gus, at this stage in their careers when Patrick Mahomes was in college and now Caleb, Caleb is far superior and further down the road in terms of development and what Patrick was at Texas Tech,” said Klatt during the USC vs. Colorado broadcast in Fox on Sunday.

Immediately after Joel Klatt made that shocking claim, Caleb Williams made an athletic play to evade the rush and showed off his arm strength by throwing a 71-yard touchdown dart across his body to a wide-open receiver.

While it may seem like a shocking claim, it is somewhat true. Caleb is a Heisman Trophy winner in college and is now looking to become the only player in college football history to win the prestigious Heisman Award in consecutive years. It is true that both Williams and Mahomes belong to different systems and played in different conferences, but it cannot be denied that Williams is certainly a far better prospect than Patrick Mahomes coming out of college.

The 2-time league MVP Mahomes was drafted by the Chiefs as the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. On the other hand, Williams is projected to be the No.1 overall pick and fans are demanding their teams to tank for Williams.

Caleb Williams and the USC Trojans defeated Colorado on Saturday

As many experts predicted, the USC Trojans led by their star quarterback Caleb Williams defeated Deion Sanders‘ Colorado Buffaloes in an offensive shootdown on Saturday.

Williams continues his Heisman Campaign as he threw for more than 400 yards and a whopping 6 touchdowns in a win against the Buffaloes. Through five games, Caleb Williams has now registered 1,603 passing yards and 21 touchdowns and has thrown only one interception so far.

He is undeniably a leading candidate for the Heisman Memorial Trophy for the ongoing season along with CU’s Shedeur Sanders. Anyhow, he will look to continue his remarkable campaign with another great game against Arizona Wildcats, who the Trojans are scheduled to face next weekend.
