Keyshawn Johnson labels Jayden Daniels as the best quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft over Caleb Williams

Caleb Williams is currently projected to be the No.1 overall pick in the upcoming draft.

The much-anticipated 2024 NFL Draft is right around the corner. The 2024 Draft class is loaded with QB talents. In fact, nearly three quarterbacks are expected to get selected in the first-round draft. Those three are Caleb WilliamsJayden Daniels, and Drake Maye. Among these three, Williams is projected to be the first-overall pick. The quarterback is currently being linked with the Chicago Bears, who have the No.1 pick.

However, contrary to popular opinion, analyst Keyshawn Johnson believes that not Williams but Jayden Daniels is the best QB available in the upcoming draft. In the recent episode of Undisputed, Johnson said he would take Daniels as the first QB instead of the ‘generational prospect’ Williams.

I would take Jayden Daniels at the quarterback position as the first guy off my board, nothing against Caleb, it’s just that I like Jayden Daniels better.
Keyshawn Johnson said

Daniels did extremely well last season as the quarterback of the LSU Tigers. He was the Heisman Trophy winner and helped his team achieve a winning record. On the other hand, Williams did not have an impressive season last year.

He had a down year in 2023 compared to his 2022 season when he won the Heisman Trophy. Nevertheless, the dip in performance did not reduce the confidence of the quarterback as he remained fairly certain that he would be the first QB to get off the board during the 2024 draft.

Keyshawn Johnson hyped Jayden Daniels’ throwing abilities

While comparing both Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams, Johnson said he prefers Daniels because of his superior throwing abilities. The analyst claimed that Daniels is a much better passer of the ball than the former USC Trojans quarterback.

I think Jayden Daniels’ ability to throw the deep ball to hit on schedule plays and all scheduled platform plays, to be able to move in and out of the pocket to do all of those sorts of things. He is a natural leader to me.
Keyshawn Johnson saidIn addition, Johnson remained skeptical about the future of Williams in the NFL. Johnson believes Williams might not be able to mirror his college success on the big stage. The analyst said:

Caleb on the other hand, I always caution myself from systems that guys play in. When I look at the history of that quarterback in that particular system in the air rate, it doesn’t always transfer to NFL. Whether it’s the New England Patriots or Washington, they should take [Daniels] over Caleb.

It doesn’t really matter what Johnson thinks about Williams. Many NFL executives believe the Trojans product is the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck. So, he is almost guaranteed to be drafted as the No.1 overall pick.
