Micah Parsons expresses jealousy of Josh Allen’s Madden cover as Cowboys vs. Bills showdown looms

Parsons wants to be featured on the cover of the popular Madden franchise.

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a big win against their divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. Their dominant victory has put them atop the NFC East and the team will now look to keep things rolling as they face off against the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.

The Cowboys’ defense knows they have a daunting task ahead of them. They will need to keep Josh Allen under control if they wish to win this game.

All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons addressed the topic of Josh Allen in the press conference leading up to Sunday night. Parsons revealed that he is jealous of the quarterback for a trivial reason. He got an opportunity to be on the cover of EA Sports Madden 24, a goal that is on Parsons’ bucket list as well. Maybe next year Micah, you never know.

Obviously, Josh, you have to put him in a different space because he was a cover of Madden–He’s up there with the greats. So I never told Josh this, but I’m a little jealous because he was on the cover of Madden. I think growing up I think that’s everyone’s dream.

Parsons said in Thursday’s presser

The linebacker is one of the frontrunners to win the DPOY award this season, so he does have an actual shot to make the cover. Besides, the top QBs in the NFL have already been featured on the cover so maybe this is the year the linebacker gets to be featured on the cover? However, there have been a lot of underdogs in the NFL this season so EA Sports will have a lot of options to choose from.

Even if Parsons does not get to be featured on the cover of the game this season, he can always use it as an additional incentive to motivate him to beat the all-time sack record. The year he accomplishes that, he has to be the cover athlete of Madden because that is a very impressive feat.

While being the face of Madden does come with a sense of accomplishment, it carries along with it a curse. Historically, players who have had remarkable seasons and went on to become the cover athlete for the Madden franchise have not been able to recreate the same level of success in the subsequent season. The infamous Madden Curse is feared by many except Patrick Mahomes, who managed to win the Super Bowl the same year he was on the cover of the game.

I know we're the Dallas Cowboys, so I know what type of Josh we're gonna get. I don't think it's gonna be the one that makes some costly decisions.
I think it's gonna be the one trying to beat on us pretty bad. I'm excited for the matchup.

Will Micah Parsons be able to beat the curse when he does get to be featured on the game? It is a possibility. The linebacker did give props to Josh Allen and acknowledged that he is a threat that will need to be dealt with.
