Dak Prescott is one of the 5 finalists for the MVP along with Brock Purdy and others.

The 2023 NFL season is heading towards the climax as only four teams are left in the Super Bowl race. Now, it’s time to honor the players’ achievements in the 2023 regular season with awards. Recently, the league announced the names of the finalists for the prestigious MVP award, and the Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott‘s name is one among them.

The prestigious MVP award has come down to 5 people and four of them are quarterbacks. The Baltimore Ravens signal-caller Lamar Jackson, the Cowboys’ Dak Prescott, the San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, the Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (who didn’t even receive a Pro Bowl nod), and the Niners’ Brock Purdy are the finalists, who have the shot at the bagging the award.

All the players who are named as the finalists have credible numbers to win the award, but some people believe that only a few of the finalists are deserving of the award. For instance, most people believe Prescott, who couldn’t lead his team to a victory against the Green Bay Packers in the wildcard round, shouldn’t be in the MVP conversation at all.

Prescott had one of the best campaigns of his career so far as he completed a whopping 69.5% (career high) of his pass attempts for 4,516 passing yards and 36 passing TDs. Furthermore, he also got control over his turnover problems as he only threw 9 interceptions in the 2023 season, compared to 15 in 2022.

Besides, he also led his team to win the NFC East title with a solid record of 12 wins and 5 losses. If the MVP award is a purely regular season award, Prescott is a solid candidate to win the trophy. But, the fans don’t see it that way.

Social media reacts to Dak Prescott being named a finalist for the MVP award

NFL fans on social media couldn’t believe that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was named as one of the finalists for the MVP award. If he wins, it would be his first MVP award in his 8-year career so far.

Some fans, however, celebrated Prescott getting recognized by the league for his achievements. Check out some of the reactions attached below.

Nonetheless, the Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is currently the favorite to win the award on many sports betting platforms. It is currently a tight race between Jackson and the Niners QB Brock Purdy with the Ravens leader having a slight edge over the latter. The winner of the award will be announced at the NFL Honors on February 8.
