Nick Wright believes Brock Purdy may get benched this season in the future if his poor run continues despite 5-0 start

In last three games of 49ers, QB Brock Purdy threw five interceptions to three touchdowns.

With quarterback Brock Purdy in the lead, the San Francisco 49ers stand with a poor offense after losing three games in a row this season. As the quarterback struggled terribly against the Cincinnati Bengals, last Sunday at 31-17, with a Hall of Famer among the audience.

Purdy has a remarkable start this season throwing nine touchdowns and zero interceptions, in the first five games that the 49ers won. However, in the last three games, the team has suffered tragic losses as the quarterback lost his form and threw five interceptions to three touchdowns.

Before the game against the Bengals, Purdy went through a concussion protocol. After his performance in the game, many believe the 49ers quarterback should have been benched during the day, including the analyst Nick Wright. The co-host of Fox Sports 1’s First Things First, has always been upfront with his opinion on the 49ers quarterback Purdy. And following his poor performance in the last three games of the team, Wright believes it’s not long till the quarterback might be benched this season if he continues like this.

Wright said:

It is on the board that at some point in this year that Brock Purdy gets benched. Of course! This is not me being unfair, this is me being totally honest and objective.

In just three weeks, the 49ers came from being unstoppable to falling terribly on the field. Against the Bengals, QB Purdy made too many mistakes. The biggest one was when he threw an interception in the red zone, which cost the team quite a big sum. However, as the team now heads to a bye week, this seems like a good opportunity for Purdy to hit a reset button.

49ers may again turn to backup QB Sam Darnold after losing skid with Brock Purdy

With a remarkable start, this season at 5-0 thriving as the front-runners, the 49ers had been forced to play from behind in the last three weeks as they hit upon poor results. And if they want to be contenders this week, they need to come out of the bye week more confident and coordinated.

Speaking about this Nick Wright said:

If you are amidst a four-five game losing streak, of course, your job is in jeopardy. Well, they are three games into it..next week they will be a two-point favourite…If you don’t think this thing tailpins for the 49ers, and 5-0 turns into 6-5, there’s going to be a real discussion about Sam Darnold, who could be quote Steve Young that I tried to dismiss…Then yes, it is on the board that Purdy has not earned the unbenchable capital that a star QB has.

Based on quarterback Purdy’s performance in the last three weeks, there are chances that he might be benched for future games, as believed by the NFL analyst. This means, the team would again have to confine in backup quarterback Sam Darnold, who was supposed to play if Purdy hadn’t been cleared.
