Nick Wright strongly believes Caleb Williams will eventually lead the Bears to playoffs in the upcoming season

Caleb Williams might be the potential first pick for the Chicago Bears.

As the Chicago Bears have released their former quarterback Justin Fields, the possibility that Caleb Williams will receive the number one draft is increasing. Though nothing is finalized, sources revealed that the Bears are gearing up to sign the quarterback with 30 touchdowns for the USC Trojans.

The possibility of Caleb Williams getting drafted has received various opinions from analysts and former stars alike. While some raised a few concerns, most have welcomed the move. Notably, Skip Bayless claimed that Williams would be a better fit for the team than Fields.

In this context, Nick Wright also offered his two cents about Williams. He said that If the Bears sign Williams then the quarterback might lead them to the playoffs. Last season, the Bears had a major quarterback issue. Fields failed to give the much-needed drive to the team. In addition, he had injury concerns as well. In the coming season, the Bears would not have the same problem if they go for Williams.

Wright said on First Things First:

There is a 100% chance that he will get drafted in the Chicago Bears as the number one draft. The Bears are better than what the people think. And they were better in last year. I expect this 7-10 Bears with better quarterbacking and more talent to be a 10 or 11-win team. I expect them to be in the playoffs.

With Caleb Williams’ arrival impending, Justin Fields enjoyed unprecedented popularity in the squad

Despite not leading his team to glory, Justin Fields enjoyed supreme popularity in the squad, during his time at the Bears. It was the sole reason, his trade looked uncertain till a point in time. Among the players, D.J. Moore and Cole Kmet backed him strongly. However, the biggest certificate received was from the team’s president Kevin Warren.

In an interview, Kevin Warren, the President of the Chicago Bears stated that he liked the quarterback a lot. He was an admirer of the intelligence of the quarterback and used to be fond of the playing style. However, Fields is a closed chapter for the Bears now.

There might be a concern about whether the players who used to like Fields so much, will play similarly with Caleb Williams in the coming time. Fields was certainly a locker room favorite. Only time will tell the answer.
