Patrick Mahomes is adamant that his Chiefs teammate, Travis Kelce, and his pop star girlfriend, Taylor Swift, won’t be a ‘distraction’ to the NFL ahead of the team’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.

Speaking to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington on Sunday, the 28-year-old quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion said: ‘I don’t think it feels any different. People see the whole Taylor Swift and Travis [Kelce romance] and they make it a huge deal because it is a huge deal.

‘I think it becomes a bigger deal to the fanbases than it does to the guys who are actually in the building.’

Kelce, 34, and Swift, 33, have been spotted going on dates since September, when the Chiefs tight end failed to obtain the singer’s number at her Eras Tour Concert in Kansas City.

They eventually started dating after the eight-time Pro Bowler publicly courted Swift, who since then has attend four Chiefs games, one in New York against the Jets while the other three have been at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium.

Interest in the NFL hasnever been higher since the pair became one of America’s most popular power couples.

‘I’ve been lucky enough to meet Taylor and see how good of a person she is,’ said Mahomes on ESPN on Saturday. ‘I think you can understand why it’s not become a distraction or anything like that because everybody cares about being the best they can be every day.’

Swift has grown close to Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, cheering on the Chiefs with her at home games. She even invited Brittany, 28, to her very own watch partyat her New York City apartment earlier this month when the Chiefs and Miami Dolphins played in Germany.

‘Taylor is loving her newfound friendships with the other wives and girlfriends of Travis’ teammates,’ a source told US Weekly, two weeks ago. ‘She appreciates that they know how to have fun just like she does and she loves cheering Travis and the Chiefs on alongside all of them.’

Mahomes and his wife are well-documented ‘Swifties’, as they attended her Eras Tour show in Kansas City in July. The Chiefs quarterback is hopeful he’ll attend another of the singer’s live performances in the next year, or so.

‘We’ll see when we get to the off-season, maybe I’m traveling to Europe to go to a concert or something,’ he told ESPN.

Swift just returned from her touring in South America, and will go to Japan to extend her Eras Tour in January.
