The season Lamar Jackson won the MVP, he had 36 touchdowns and 1,200 rushing yards, but this season, he only had 24 touchdowns and above 843 rushing yards.

Richard Sherman claims Christian McCaffrey deserves to be the MVP despite Lamar Jackson’s 5 TD outing against the Dolphins

After the remarkable Christmas game that made Lamar Jackson the frontrunner in the NFL MVP race, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback locked the title as he logged a remarkable five touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins in Week 17. However, there’s one person who still doesn’t think the quarterback deserves the MVP.

Just a week earlier, retired All-Pro cornerback and sports analyst Richard Sherman voiced his bold opinion that upset many fans. As he said, Jackson does not deserve to win the MVP. And once again, Sherman stood firm on his opinion while advocating for a non-quarterback for the award.

The fact of the matter remains the same for him. The five touchdowns in this game against the Miami Dolphins, as crazy as it sounds, are almost as many as he had in the months of both September and November combined. In those months combined, he had six touchdowns passing. So when you look at the full picture, I just don't see it.

Argued Sherman on Undisputed, as Skip Bayless brought up Jackson’s 5 touchdown performance.

The former Seattle Seahawks cornerback pointed out that people have been saying to him that he is just “hating.” To which he argued that he has only been stating facts.

I think that was an unbelievable game. I thought he played really well against San Francisco. I think he's having a really good season.

He even applauded the quarterback

It was just when he had his MVP season and it was unanimous, so you gotta put an aster next to that because it was so outstanding that he was the first unanimous MVP in the history of the league.

He added pointing out that the season Jackson won the MVP

He had 36 touchdowns and 1,200 rushing yards, but this season, he only had 24 touchdowns and above 843 rushing yards.

Richard Sherman will split the MVP between Christian McCaffrey and Lamar Jackson

In Richard Sherman’s opinion, history may repeat itself this season. As quarterback Jackson has below 30 touchdowns, the MVP title may be split, as it happened back in 2003 between Steve McNair and Peyton Manning. But if he had a vote for the MVP title, the sports analyst would definitely give it to Christian McCaffrey, as he claimed on Undisputed.

Though he added that he would split the vote.

He [Lamar Jackson] had five touchdowns this week and recency, it counts to a degree, but you also have to put the full scope of the picture. So I have to give him credit for what he did against the San Francisco 49ers in a prime-time game…and then what he just did against the Maimi with the number one seed on the line, he played his best football.

He said

According to the DraftKings Sportsbook, the 49ers’ running back McCaffrey has the second-best odds to win the MVP title this season, at +400, behind quarterback Jackson at -170.
