Brock Purdy was the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers has been balling so far this season. He has completed at least 70 per cent of his passes through the first five weeks and had his best performance of the season against an elite Dallas Cowboys defense on Sunday. He completely outdueled Cowboys’ much-experienced QB Dak Prescott and led the Niners to a 42-10 victory at home.

Purdy went 17-24 for 252 yards and four touchdowns against the Dallas-based team. Through five games, he has thrown nine touchdown passes with no interceptions so far. He has a rating of 123.1, which is the best among starters this season. Former San Francisco player and current Fox Sports analyst Richard Sherman believes that Purdy should be the MVP this season if he continues his elite production.

“He should be the MVP of the National Football League.” Sherman said on the Fox Sports show, Undisputed, “The way you measure quarterback is with quarterback rating, with QBR. He’s one in both. His QBR right now is 83.5, which is very close to what Aaron’s was in 2011.”

He further continued by saying, “Give that man the flowers he deserves. Yes, he should be the MVP of the league. If he continues to play at this level, limits the turnovers and his team is on the trajectory to win the Super Bowl, he should get the MVP.”

Purdy was drafted as the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. He got his opportunity to play last season after injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance. Purdy took that opportunity with both hands and hasn’t looked back since. The Niners will play their next game against the Cleveland Browns in their next game on Sunday.

Brock Purdy has a short and simple response for those who still doubt him

Brock Purdy has turned a lot of skeptics around with his consistent performances this season. However, there are still pundits who doubt the second-year signal-caller and are yet to be convinced about him. Purdy, though, is only concerned about one thing: winning.

“It’s all good,” Purdy told NBC Sports’ Peter King when told that “lots of people still were skeptical of him.” He further continued by saying, “Every level that I’ve played at growing up it’s like you get to that level and at first you may think it’s a big deal, but then once I start playing it’s like, ‘Man this is just football,’ yes, everyone’s better at every level, but at the end of the day, man, you’re throwing a football to some guys trying to get open and catch it. And that’s really how I look at it. Try to keep it simple. This is a simple game.”

The Niners have started the season 5-0. Purdy has started the season without throwing an interception and leading the league in QBR. They will play their next game against the Cleveland Browns and will hope to continue this winning streak.
