Ryan Clark claims if Caleb Williams fails in NFL then respective coaches and organization should be blamed and not the Trojans QB

Ryan Clark compares Caleb Williams to elite quarterbacks of the NFL, top on the list being Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson.

As the upcoming NFL drafts approach soon, the limelight seems to be on the top prospects. Standing up front, with the highest odds to be the No. 1 pick, is the USC’s star Caleb Williams. Given, that the Chicago Bears have the No. 1 pick, the addition of Williams could transform their entire strategy, let alone strengthen their offensive line– all they desperately need.

On the contrary, a few commentators and analysts seem to see the other side of the story and do not seem to believe Williams is ready for the 2024 NFL Draft and would probably fail in the NFL. If that happens, it wouldn’t be the first time a transition from college stardom to the NFL fails mid-career.

Addressing the concerns and doubts regarding the 2022 Heisman Trophy’s winner, sports analyst Ryan Clark made a bold claim regarding Williams’ odds of succeeding in the league, stating he’s the future NFL star.

Clark said on the recent episode of ESPN’s Get Up:

If Caleb Williams isn’t starting day one and isn’t a highly successful NFL quarterback, it’s the coach’s fault and the organization’s fault. I got to see Caleb Williams two times in person and leaving the stadium, I said, ‘The thing that they’re going to use against him is that he doesn’t play on time.

Clark, who recently took over Stephen A. Smith’s position on First Take, reasoned Williams’ timing issue claiming he is “better than everybody else” and complimented his gameplay. Moreover, Clark also compared the 22-year-old to elite quarterbacks of the NFL, top on the list being Patrick MahomesJosh Allen, and Lamar Jackson.

Kliff Kingsbury sees parallels between proteges Patrick Mahomes and Caleb Williams

Ever since Williams’ odds to becoming the top pick heightened, he has often been compared to the three-time Super Bowl champion, Patrick Mahomes. In fact, both quarterbacks have also been coached by the same coach: Kliff Kingsbury.

Kingsbury himself has spoken about similarities between Mahomes and Williams. He coached Mahomes at Texas Tech and Williams as an offensive assistant under Lincoln Riley‘s Trojans. If anyone can compare these two quarterbacks it is surely Kingsbury.

As he has previously drawn the similarities, Williams is definitely going to be the top prospect of the 2024 NFL Draft, as Mahomes has led his team, the Kansas City Chiefs to six consecutive AFC Championship Games, and three Super Bowl appearances, in which they won two of them.
