Saquon Barkley’s move to the Eagles doesn’t scare Skip Bayless ‘one bit’

Saquon Barkley’s contract with Philly can heighten up to $46.75 million including $26 million guaranteed.

Ahead of the 2024 offseason, every NFL team is meeting all ends to strengthen their game, including the Philadelphia Eagles who usually don’t spend big chunks of money on running backs. But this time, it was Saquon Barkley and Philly couldn’t compromise on him.

The Eagles have agreed to sign the star running back in a three-year contract deal worth $37.75 million this offseason. As ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported, it can heighten up to $46.75 million including $26 million guaranteed.

There have been rare instances in Philly’s history when they have paid a running back some of the money. Last time it was LeSean McCoy in a five-year deal worth $45 million. Now, that they have added Barkley to their roster, their offensive line is surely going to dominate another season of the NFL.

But that doesn’t scare sports analyst Skip Bayless, as he asserted loudly on Undisputed that despite this major offseason move, the Eagles are not a threat to the Dallas Cowboys.

Bayless claimed:

Saquon Barkley to Philadelphia doesn’t scare me one bit as a Cowboys fan. I think he has been dramatically overrated in large part because he played in the Big Apple. The Apple of everybody’s eye in New York City and people have been waiting and waiting and waiting for him to take off and nothing happened.

Saquon Barkley aside, Dallas Cowboys hold back in free agency market as rivals reinforce

On one hand, where the Dallas Cowboys’ rivals have been strengthening their team for the upcoming season, the Cowboys have rather been quiet in the free agency market. The only three players in free agency they have reached out to are Tony PollardDorance Armstrong, and Tyler Biadasz.

One of many reasons behind the Cowboys’ inactiveness is the tight salary cap because of huge contracts with Dak PrescottMicah Parsons, and CeeDee Lamb.

After three back-to-back postseason fiascos, the Cowboys were expected to make big moves this offseason and bring in big names to strengthen their gameplay but so far, there haven’t been many movements or speculations. Meanwhile, Saquon Barkley’s move to Philly is seen as a rivalry with Parsons.
