Sean McDermott positive about Bills’ Super Bowl hopes next season despite talks of window getting shut under Josh Allen

Sean McDermott addressed fans’ anger and frustration towards him and the Bills over their almost wins.

Looks like Sean McDermott has taken this season’s playoff loss as a motivation for next season, as he hopes to come back armed. However, there ought to be a major bump in the road given the current Josh Allen situation at the Buffalo Bills.

McDermott took over the head coach’s position at the Bills in 2017, and since then he has coached the team to the postseason in all seasons, except one. Unfortunately, that’s not the highlight of his time with the Bills. In all those seasons, they advanced to the playoffs; they have never been able to outperform the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals.

This season as well, the Bills went 11-6 in the regular season, however, fell short against the reigning Super Bowl champions at 27-22. Such stats have raised the obvious question among Bills fans, doubting McDermott’s credibility. However, seeing his resilient spirit for the future of the Bills seems to suggest otherwise.

In a recent conversation with The Athletic’s reporter Tim Graham, McDermott stated,

It’s not a matter of if. It’s just a matter of when. That is the relentless pursuit.

He also addressed fans’ anger and frustration towards him and the Bills, as they keep on failing despite getting so close every time. But he also argued that there aren’t as many teams across the league who have done half as good as the Bills have under him as the head coach. All he ought right now is their support as he plans to lead the Super Bowl race next season.

Bills target Jeremy Chinn to boost their safety position

As the Bills prepare to lead the Super Bowl race in the 2024 season, they seem to have great plans for the upcoming offseason. Rumors have it Buffalo is eyeing free agent Jeremy Chinn to strengthen their safety position, given the aging players on the roster.

Chinn appears to be their best choice at the moment as his stats show impressive records of tackles, interceptions, and fumble recoveries, acting as a leverage over his potential impact on the Bills defensive line.

The former Carolina Panthers’ safety logged a total of 116 tackles, one interception, and two fumble recoveries in his rookie season and has been consistent with his performance. Adding him to the roster is a strategic move for the Bills as it adds the fresh talent the franchise desperately needs and evolves the current players’ dynamics.
