Skip Bayless ‘disqualifies’ Dak Prescott as an MVP candidate this season despite Cowboys’ big win over the Giants

The analyst does not believe that Dak Prescott has done enough to deserve being in the MVP conversation.

Skip Bayless has been extremely rational regarding his takes on the Dallas Cowboys this season. As surprising as it sounds, the analyst dismissed quarterback Dak Prescott from the MVP race this season despite him leading ‘America’s team’ to a commanding victory over the New York Giants last week. Skip believes unless the postseason is included to determine who the MVP is, Dak does not deserve to be there.

The reason for this is simpleThe analyst thinks that Dak Prescott has not performed well against top teams in the NFL. While he did manage to destroy the New York Giants, Skip feels that an MVP candidate must play well against top teams and not just the bottom-tier teams.

Just because of how he stunk it up against San Francisco…he stunk at Arizona, a game they should have won with one hand tied behind their backs. I got to experience Roger Staubach, and Troy Aikman and Dandy Don Meredith and Dak has not lived up to the pedestal which he sits on as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys

Bayless brought up the Cowboys matchup against the Eagles wherein Dak Prescott had an opportunity to change the outcome of the game with one play but he ended up stepping out of bounds on the two-point drive.

Skip Bayless does not view Dak Prescott as worthy of being crowned the regular season MVP

While Skip Bayless is not vouching for Dak Prescott to win the regular season MVP honors, he does mention that if the NFL were to consider playoff performance while giving the award, in that case, he would consider Dak Prescott for the same. “If you can have a postseason MVP award, I would give Dak a chance to go win it.”

He goes on to justify his take, “I’ve seen three straight San Francisco games, this is not over-harsh criticism…Dak flat-out stunk.” The Cowboys are scheduled to face the Eagles, Bills, and the Dolphins in the coming weeks and even if Dak Prescott were to win against these teams, Skip Bayless does not see the quarterback as worthy of being in contention for the MVP.

Dak Prescott has had a good season this year having thrown for 2,415 yards, 17 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and a QBR of 72.7. The biggest issue with him remains to be his consistency. He has been consistently good while playing against bad teams and consistently average while playing against elite teams.
