“Tom Brady destroyed me opening night!” Micah Parsons reveals the DARK reality of pressure on rookie players citing his own example

Micah Parsons took to social media to share some advice to the rookie players.

The Dallas Cowboys have built a strong roster over the years and are ready to compete for the Super Bowl in the upcoming seasons. One of the star players Micah Parsons has only played two seasons in the league but has already put up monstrous numbers. However, he understands that it is not easy for everyone to find their footing in the NFL in their rookie season itself. He recently shared some advice with the rookies from his own experience of getting destroyed by Tom Brady in his rookie campaign.

“Idk why we put so many expectations on rookies it’s takes so long to get adapted to the NFL!! Tom brady destroyed me opening night!! You just gotta learn and stay positive! Never make the same mistakes twice!,” wrote Parsons on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.

Back in 2021, during Parson’s rookie campaign, the Cowboys went against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on their season opener. As the linebacker mentioned, Brady torched Dallas’ defense on that day as he completed 32 of his 50 pass attempts for 379 yards and 4 touchdowns. Brady also led a game-winning drive to set up a field goal in the last few seconds of the fourth quarter.

Parsons had 7 tackles but failed to register a sack in that game. Fast forward a couple of years later, Parsons and the Cowboys defeated Brady in the playoffs and sent him into retirement during the 2022 wild-card game. The 2-time All-Pro LB had one sack and 2 passes defended in that game.

As Micah Parsons mentioned, it is very tough for young players to adjust to the pace of the NFL in their rookie campaign. Only a few players can translate their success to the big stage in their first season itself and the Cowboys linebacker was one of them.

Parsons was wreaking havoc on the opponents’ backfields as he registered 13 sacks and 3 forced fumbles in his rookie campaign. As a result, the pass rusher was named the Defensive Rookie of the Year for the 2021 season. Furthermore, he also ended up second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.

So far, in just two seasons, Parsons has registered 26.5 sacks, has received 2 Pro Bowl nods, and 2 first-team All-Pro recognitions. He will be looking to win his first DPOY award while helping the Cowboys win a Super Bowl ring in the upcoming season.
