Trey Lance won’t debut for the Cowboys this season even if Dak Prescott struggles, predicts Lil Wayne

Wayne looked confident when he said Lance will a little to no chance of displacing Prescott this year.

Undisputed Part 2 kicked off on Monday with famous rapper Lil Wayne not only composing a new theme song but also showcasing his NFL knowledge. Self-proclaimed Cowboys fanatic Skip Bayless tried to egg Wayne into spilling his thoughts on how Trey Lance‘s trade will affect Dak Prescott.

FOX Sports was buzzing with the return of the famed morning show that set countless records over the years. But a dispute between former cohosts, Bayless and Shannon Sharpe, ended a seven-year journey in June.

Then began the search for a new partner for the veteran analyst. Several names were put forward as Sharpe’s replacement, and in the end, three were chosen. Richard ShermanKeyshawn Johnson, and Michael Irvin walked onto the set in style. Lil Wayne was also part of the entourage and joined in the discussion.

“How soon could you see Trey Lance starting for the Dallas Cowboys?,” Bayless asked Wayne. “You know, in the season, people say anything’s going to happen; everything’s going to happen,” he replied, implying Prescott needs to be careful. But he is confident that the Pro Bowler has nothing to worry about. “I think Trey won’t even see the field—at least this year,” he added. “Unless it’s an injury.”

Does Dak Prescott need to worry about Trey Lance?

As Lil Wayne pointed out, Prescott is the No. 1 choice for the Dallas Cowboys. He will be the starter unless there’s a major injury. That is possible, considering he has been hit with a few in the last few years.

Despite the setbacks, the Cowboys have managed to record a 12-5 record but have faltered in the postseason. The interception part is questionable. Last season, he had 15 picks, which is even higher than in 2021 (10).

Moreover, Jerry Jones will not wait too long, as football is a business. No wonder he did not bring Prescott in while trading for Trey Lance. Jones revealed that his name did not even come to mind. Only head coach Mike McCarthy was made aware of the deal.

Furthermore, the future Hall of Famer (as per Jones) has a $59 million cap hit in 2024. So there are two choices on the table, but it all depends on how Dak Prescott performs in the upcoming season. If he does better and wins the NFC and even takes the Cowboys to the Super Bowl, then he will undoubtedly get a new lucrative contract. But if he fails or if there is a major injury, Lance’s chances will improve.

The former first-round pick will still have Cooper Rush in his path. Nevertheless, Prescott remains the undisputed Cowboys’ No. 1.
