WATCH: “Worst rule in the NFL” – Cowboys WR CeeDee fumbling out the back of the end zone against Lions’ has fans cursing the bizarre rule

Fans angry with referee giving the ball back to Lions after Lamb’s fumble near the endzone.

CeeDee Lamb almost bagged his second touchdown of the night against the Detroit Lions. Yes! almost. Before crossing over, he met with a Lions defender.

With under 11 minutes left on the clock until the half-time break, the Dallas Cowboys had the ball on first and goal. Dak Prescott connected with Lamb for the fifth time in the game, and the #88 had TD green right in front of him.

However, a couple of Lions defenders charged right at him from his left side. Cornerback Kindle Vildor grabbed hold of Lamb and pulled him down right before he entered the Lions’ end zone. It would have increased the gap to 11 points, but the ball came loose from the Cowboys receiver’s grasp, and the officials ruled the play fumbled out of bounds.

Football fans do not agree with the referee’s ruling that CeeDee Lamb’s fumble was a touchback and turnover

When it comes to football, every fan has an opinion. And the Dallas Cowboys fans are more so than any other. When CeeDee Lamb lost the ball near the Lions goal line, he and countless other Cowboy Nation folk must have thought the ball would still be in their possession. But the referee had other ideas.

They ruled it a successful fumble turnover for the Lions, and the ball switched hands. Here’s what fans had to say about the call:

CeeDee Lamb had his best moment 3 minutes before the first quarter ended. On 3rd and 13 deep into Cowboys territory, Dallas had the ball. Post-snap, Prescott got the ball, evaded a few challenges, and threw a piledriver at Lamb right near the center Cowboys Star.

The 24-year-old outpaced the Lions’ coverage and ran through an open field to score a 92-yard touchdown. Along with it, he became the Cowboys single-season reception leader, overtaking Michael Irvin (1995).

At the end of the third quarter, the scores were tied at 10-10. Prescott had completed 13/17 for 211 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Lamb caught six passes for 151 yards and one touchdown. The Cowboys are 10-5 and the Lions are 11-4 for the 2023 season. A win would edge either team closer to the #1 seed in the NFC.
