Angelina Jolie has reportedly slammed a ‘corrupt’ judge in the custody battle between her and Brad Pitt, and called for judges to receive additional training.

The Tomb Raider star has spoken out about her experiences during the years-long custody battle between her and ex-husband Brad Pitt.

In a letter seen by The New York Post, the actor urges California Gov. Gavin Newsom to support ‘Piqui’s Law’.

This law would require judges and other court officers sitting on domestic violence cases to undergo training on the effects of childhood abuse and trauma.

“This is personal to her, and for good reason,” a source close to the Maleficent star claimed to The Post.

Jolie’s support for the proposal comes after Los Angeles Judge John W. Ouderkirk allegedly refused to allow her children to testify in court about the impact of alleged domestic violence they had experienced, according to the outlet.

She allegedly claimed that this happened despite California allowing children aged 14 and over to testify in court.

Ouderkirk ruled in May 2021 that the couple would have 50/50 custody of their children going forward.

However, in July 2021 the appellate court, or court of appeal, ruled that Ouderkirk should be disqualified from the case as he had allegedly failed to sufficiently disclose his ‘recent professional’ relationships with Pitt’s attorneys, the court hearing said.

The 50/50 custody ruling was subsequently overturned, and Jolie now has sole custody of the children who are still minors, with Pitt being granted visitation rights.

The source further claimed that Ouderkirk was a ‘biased’ judge who was ‘removed by the appellate court for his corrupt and secretive financial dealings with Brad Pitt’s team’.

According to The Independent, Pitt’s attorney slammed the ‘crafty’ removal of Ouderkirk and alleged ‘the lower court’s ruling will reward parties who are losing child custody cases and condone their gamesmanship’ in an 87-page document.

‘Piqui’s Law’ is named after a 5-year-old boy who was killed by his own father in 2017.

In addition to requiring judges and court officers to undergo training, it also seeks to prevent children who are victims of abuse from being separated from the non-violent parent.

The proposed law would also block children caught up in custody battles from going into ‘reunification camps’, which are places in which estranged children and parents can attempt reconciliation with a therapist, and can be ordered by the court.

The actors became locked in a custody battle over their six children after one alleged incident which saw Jolie file for divorce in 2016, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.

This saw Pitt allegedly shaking Jolie on a flight during a heated argument over their kids. Legal documents claim Pitt had allegedly ‘grabbed her by the head and shook her’ before adding that he ‘poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children’.

Jolie filed for divorce six days after the incident. Federal authorities did not press any criminal charges against Pitt.

Brad Pitt is getting called out for his role in the Harvey Weinstein exposé She Said.

The film details the journey of reporters, editors, survivors and witnesses who chose to come forward to put an end to Harvey Weinstein‘s abuse.

Check the trailer out below:

The 70-year-old, who is serving a 23-year prison sentence in New York, has pleaded not guilty to 11 sexual assault charges against five women between 2004 to 2013.

Pitt is credited as one of the films executive producers and has been criticised by viewers who find it ‘ironic’ as the actor has faced allegations of abuse in the past.

It’s also been alleged that Pitt knew about Weinstein’s abusive nature after ex-girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow told him about her experience with the producer, she claims.

After noticing that Pitt was credited as a producer, one person tweeted: “I’ll be honest I can’t take She Said seriously knowing it’s produced by Brad Pitt like it’s just too much of an irony.”

“Brad Pitt being a producer for she said the movie about Harvey Weinstein is so funny bc he knew about Harvey for YEARS, continued to work with him, and never spoke out until it benefited him,” a second person thought.

Another added: “Crazy how the one of the She Said movie producers is Brad Pitt like wtf.”

Someone else tweeted: “Brad Pitt being a producer for the She Said film about Weinst*in is something so sick because he knew about Harvey for years, continued to work with him, and never spoke out about him.”

UNILAD have contacted Brad Pitt’s representatives for comment.

Brad Pitt has responded to explosive abuse claims made by his ex-wife Angelina Jolie, with whom he shares six children.

The pair are entangled in an ongoing legal battle over a French wine company they once jointly owned.

On Tuesday (4 October), Jolie filed new allegations of abuse, claiming Pitt ‘choked one of their children and struck another in the face’ and ‘grabbed Jolie by the head, shook her and poured beer on the star’. Pitt is also accused of ‘pouring red wine and beer on the children’.

In a statement regarding the allegations – which according to Jolie took place on board a private plane in 2016 – Pitt’s representative challenged his ex’s claims.

A spokesperson for Pitt told CNN that Jolie’s latest allegations are ‘completely untrue’.

The A-listers are embroiled in a legal row over Jolie’s stake in winery Chateau Miraval.

She sold her half of the wine company back in 2021, leading Pitt to sue Jolie, alleging that the pair agreed not to sell without consent from one another.

Countersuing, Jolie insisted no agreement existed and that she sold her portion to have ‘financial independence’ from Pitt.

Jolie also said she wanted ‘some form of peace and closure to this deeply painful and traumatic chapter of her and their children’s lives’.

In court documents seen by CNN, Jolie shared more details about the alleged incident in September 2016, which is said to have taken place five days before she filed for divorce.

CNN points to a segment of Jolie’s counterclaim that’s titled ‘Why Jolie separated from Pitt’.

The document alleges that before the pair arrived at the airport with their children, Pitt got into an argument with one of their kids.

Once on the plane, Jolie allegedly asked Pitt what was wrong, and claims the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star then ‘verbally attacked her’.

Half an hour later, Jolie claims Pitt ‘pulled her into the bathroom, grabbed her by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall’.

The claim continues: “Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying.”
