Angelina Jolie was accused of being cruel when using money to lure poor children into filming
In addition to the “noisy” divorce from Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie is now being accused of “cruelty” after revealing how she “lured” poor children in Cambodia to act in the movie.
“First They Killed My Father” is about the Khmer Rouge genocide, which she directed.
Jolie shared with Vanity Fair magazine that she wanted a child who had gone through real hardships to star in her movie. Therefore, she “hunted” around orphanages, circuses and slum schools to find the main actor.
The selected children then had to undergo a “test”, in which they had a sum of money in front of them and to “snatch” that money, they had to think about why they wanted the money. Jolie then asked the children why they should keep the money or return it.
” Srey Moch (the girl chosen to play the main character) was the only child who stared at the money for a very long time. When she was forced to return it, she became overwhelmed with emotions” – Jolie recounted with tears in her eyes . ” Later, when Moch was asked why she wanted that money, she replied that her grandfather had died and her family did not have enough money to pay for a proper funeral .”

When reading the information Jolie shared, many netizens were angry. They thought Jolie was too “cruel” and thought her casting was “shocking and out of order”.
The movie First They Killed My Father is set in Cambodia. Jolie is an honorary citizen and adopted her eldest son Maddox in this country. The film recounts the macabre actions of the Khmer Rouge during their rule in Cambodia from 1975 to 1979.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jolie also shared about her difficulties and health after the breakdown of her marriage with Pitt. She had facial paralysis on one side, had to have acupuncture to restore her facial muscles, and also had high blood pressure.

Suffering from a broken marriage and declining health, Jolie did not want her children to see her tears. She only cried in the bathroom, not in front of the children.

Recently, Jolie and her children moved back to live in the house she just bought for $25 million. This house is only a 5-minute walk from Pitt’s house.
