 is currently on tour with her incredible Renaissance World Tour, with a packed schedule of dates around the globe. But eagle-eyed fans have spotted a gap in her diary – and they think they might have worked out why.

Some members of the BeyHive believe that the Single Ladies singer, 41, might have kept the dates free to make a surprise appearance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards

. Of course it’s just speculation at this point, but it hasn’t stopped her fans getting very, very exciting and taking to Twitter
 to share their speculation.

“Wait it’s the VMAs soon, and Beyoncé has a gap in her schedule. We getting a performance?” one user queried. The suspicion continued to grow online with another saying: “It lowkey makes sense. Visuals will be released and played as the back drop.” And a third added: “Something tells me beyonce is going to perform at the VMA’s.”

Another had previously pleaded with MTV to make the performance happen, penning: “Hey @MTV The VMA awards will be live the day of my birthday( September 12) and all I want is for y’all to finally give the VMA Vanguard Award to Shakira. And also maybe have Beyoncé perform some renaissance songs…”

The award show is dedicated to honouring the best music releases in the past year and Queen Bey’s schedule is still empty a day before until two days after the annual ceremony, when she’s due to play to a bumper crowd in Seattle, Washington.

Her potential VMA appearance wouldn’t be too big of a surprise, with the former Destiny’s Child star being nominated for Artist of the Year Award along with 

Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Shakira.

However, while she has scooped many gongs at the VMAs in recent years, she is not eligible for any other categories this year’s event as no other song of hers has been released with a music video in the past 12 months. as she has yet to release any music videos from her 2022 Renaissance album.

Beyonce has had some famous moments at the ceremony in years gone by, including the time in 2011 when she announced she was pregnant with Blue Ivy. Most famously, in 2009, Kanye stormed up on stage and took Taylor Swift’s moment away from her to declare that Beyonce “had one of the best videos of all time'” with Single Ladies.
