Beyoncé’s makeup artist revealed 5 beauty tips that have followed her since she first started her career

Makeup artist working with the singer, Sir John, revealed 5 secrets to help Beyoncé always maintain her beauty.

1. Use eye cream to nourish your lips

Sir John advises us to use eye cream to nourish our lips. Because regular lip balm can wash away (slip) lipstick color, eye cream has the ability to prevent lipstick from getting into the wrinkles on the lips, giving you plump lips.

His favorite eye cream is Auto Correct Brightening and Depuffing Eye Cream (Sunday Riley). After applying a thin layer of balm on your lips, you just need to apply lipstick as usual.

2. Always carry some essential items

For Sir John, the items he always carries with him are wet wipes, cotton swabs, blush, mascara and moisturizer. Wet tissue is a multi-purpose item, you can use it to wipe your hands, wipe off stains, and wipe away cosmetic residue left behind after smudges. 

He suggests that girls should bag Stila’s blush, a monochromatic color, enough to make the cheeks slightly rosy. The compact Luminess Mascara is also a reasonable choice for your handbag. Sir John also has a habit of putting a few drops of L’Oréal Paris Rosy Tone Cream on his hand, rubbing it evenly, then applying it to his face to make the makeup look more shiny.

3. Lipstick

Sir John is a makeup artist for performing artists, so there are no pale, neutral lipstick colors in his dictionary. To make your makeup stand out and attract viewers, Sir John recommends using eye-catching lipstick colors like red or orange. For singers like Beyoncé, he will use blue or purple. Lipstick colors with dark blue tones will make your teeth whiter, so Sir John never hesitates to use them.

4. Don’t apply powder too thick

Applying too much powder can help you hide imperfections, but the overall look of your face is not natural. No one wants a layer of makeup that cracks and falls off like a piece of cake. Sir John specifically advises us not to obsess over the skin around the eyes. You should only apply a thin layer of concealer and cover the sensitive areas on your face with a thin layer of powder.

5. Moisturize

Beyoncé’s secret to keeping her makeup intact in the middle of a Coachella performance? It’s a moisturizer. All skin needs water, including oily skin. The cause of oily skin is because the skin surface is too dry, requiring the sebaceous glands to work harder to balance moisture. And it is this sebaceous gland that “washes away” makeup.
