During an interview when Winona Ryder was asked about Angelina Jolie and the movie Girl Interrupted, many people were expecting some stories where the actress would recall how they became friends.
The Stranger Things actress definitely had some great things to share about her famous co-star, but she also mentioned how the actress kept her distance from her. While talking about her on-set dynamics with the Orignal Sin actress, Ryder said,
“I remember thinking, ‘Oh we’re going to turn out to be great friends. But I think she needed to be able to look at me just as the character Susanna, not as Winona, so in a very respectful way she just kind of kept her distance.”
In the interview, the actress recalled that the last time she came across the Eternals actress was at an Award event. There were no rumors of a feud between the two Hollywood actresses, but still, Jolie chose to keep her distance from Ryder.

Before the makers of the 1999 drama movie went ahead and finalized the Salt actress as their Lisa Rowe for Girl, Interrupted, Ryder mentioned that she was first offered that part.
She spoke about why she refused to play the character that made audiences love Jolie a little more. The 51-year-old actor said during an interview,
“I knew from the outset that whoever played Lisa was going to get all the attention. At one point they asked if I wanted to play Lisa and I said, ‘No, I want to be Susanna. There was no resentment. When it came out, people almost felt bad for me. But I expected it all along. I was really happy with the film and really proud of it”
She further added,
“At the time I worked with her, she was battling her looks because she’s so beautiful. She wanted very much to be taken seriously and not just judged on her looks. And she conquered that.”
The Black Swan actress doesn’t regret rejecting Lisa Rowe’s part. Many teenagers were able to connect with the film Girl, Interrupted.
