Nick Cannon spoke about watching his eldest children Moroccan and Monroe becoming teenagers during a new interview with People.

The 43-year-old performer, who shares his 12-year-old twins with his former wife Mariah Carey, opened up about how he was surprised to see his kids grow older.

The television personality told the media outlet that he thought the idea of his children entering their teenage years in April was ‘crazy.’

Cannon then remarked: ’13! That’s a big age, too. I remember that age like it was yesterday.’

The former America’s Got Talent host went on to speak about Moroccan and Monroe reaching the age where they will begin attending university.

‘Then you think in five more years they’ll be college students and adults, and it’s like, “Whoa. Wow.” Time flies like crazy,’ he said.

Cannon then admitted that he was thrown off by how long time had passed since his children were in their younger years.

‘You scroll through your iPhone and they send you those photos like, “This was three years ago today,” and you are like, “Yo, I thought that was last week,” he said.

The actor also expressed that he was greatly impressed by how his eldest children had matured over the course of their lives.

‘We’ve been having regular conversations for quite some time, but even now it’s like, they’re so introspective and compassionate and caring,’ he said.

Cannon then added that he tried ‘to have as many conversations with them as possible.’

The performer concluded by speaking about Monroe’s ambitions to enter the entertainment industry.

‘She wants to go to Yale’s drama school, so we’ll see how that goes…the fact that that’s the approach she wants to take, as opposed to, “Oh, I want to go do a movie now,” [is great],’ she said.
