When it comes to famous Hollywood couples, all of us know about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

However very few know about another steamy relationship between the actress, this time with Billy Bob Thornton.

The two were married in 2000 and their relationship lasted just two years, but by all accounts, it was an intense and eyebrow-raising one because the two lovebirds were candid about the way they made each other feel.

Angelina Jolie had a small appearance in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds (2000), where she played Nicolas Cage’s ex-girlfriend.

The premiere of the film was one of Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton’s first public appearances together and they made it memorable by sharing their pre-premiere activities on the red carpet.

During an interview with MTV, the couple was asked what was the most exciting thing they had done either individually or together. Thornton said:

“I think it was today. My favorite one in a car was today, just before we got here. You want me to be honest with you? We f***ed in the car on the way here.”

The couple then continued kissing and cuddling on the red carpet in front of the paparazzi, letting the media consume their private lives. In a later US Weekly interview, Jolie spoke about how much in love they were. The actress said:

“The other day we were mentioning how I needed to get one of those heart monitors on me because I’m convinced I’m going to have a heart attack. He kissed me the other day and I nearly fainted. I swear on my family’s lives. I nearly fell over.”

However, despite the intensity of their relationship, the two didn’t last. Jolie and Thornton stayed together for just two years. They separated in 2002 before divorcing in 2003.

In an interview with Vogue in 2004, Angelina Jolie clarified what went so wrong in her relationship with Billy Bob Thornton that they had to part ways within 2 years of marriage. The actress said that it was because they both changed as people. As per Jolie:

“It took me by surprise too because overnight, we totally changed. Because we’re actors, we go away for months at a time and you grow and change separately. I think one day we had just nothing in common.

And it’s scary but … I think it can happen when you get involved and you don’t know yourself yet. It’s taken me a while to grow up, and I still think I’m not even close to it yet. So I’ve kind of had to check myself: Don’t even consider a relationship for another seven, eight years.”

However, the actress didn’t follow her own advice and instead fell for Brad Pitt while working with him on Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

The relationship rocked Hollywood since Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston at that time. However, in September 2016, Jolie filed for divorce and Hollywood’s golden couple was over.

Right now, the two are busy with their careers. Jolie is busy on Without Blood while Pitt is producing The Killer.

Without Blood is expected to release in mid to late 2023, while The Killers will release on Netflix on 10 November 2023.
