While some attribute her head-to-toe perfection to being in love (Lopez is dating former New York Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez), it’s also clear that to sustain her svelte body — particularly her flat, chiseled abs — she is sticking to a superhealthy workout and diet plan.
The Grammy winner often shares #fitgoals images on Instagram that reveal her totally toned body (case in point: her washboard abs in a tiny black bikini pic on her 49th birthday). But she also kills it every time she is on the red carpet in supertight, skin-baring bodycon silhouettes.

Do we spy an eight-pack? Celebrating Magic Johnson’s birthday at the beach in St-Tropez, France, on September 2, 2019, the Hustlers star flashed a side-view of her abs. Framed by a white, long-sleeve crop top and a blue high-slit skirt cover-up, her core looked even more defined than usual. As Lopez told Us in 2018, quarters could theoretically bounce off her abs. “On some days, yes!” she joked.

Betrothed and Bold
Lopez and Alex Rodriguez may have walked the carpet for the first time as an engaged couple at the Met Gala in May 2019. But at the CFDA Fashion Awards on June 4, 2019, her abs finally made their rock-hard debut next to the man who will soon vow to have and to hold them. Lopez wore an orange, bedazzled long-sleeve turtleneck crop top with a ball gown skirt by Ralph Lauren Collection to the event, where she was honored with the Fashion Icon Award. The singer’s current trainer, Dodd Romero, is a fan of supersets. One he uses to work her lower body and core involves three rounds supported lunges moving directly into cable rope crunches — first with 70 pounds and 50 reps, then with 90 pounds and 35 reps and finally with 120 pounds and 21 reps. “Her strength has actually doubled,” the pro recently told Us.

Now With More Bling!
This time, JLo’s rock-hard abs had some competition — from her A-Rod rock! On March 15, 2019, a newly engaged Lopez left the gym in Miami wearing the estimated $1.4 million, 15-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring Alex Rodriguez had given her less than a week prior. The couple frequently work out together with trainer Dodd Romero. “Everyone does resistance training, but she’s more being sculpted,” Romero recently told Us of Lopez, “meaning, every exercise she does is for a purpose and a reason.”
Facing Reality
After completing a 10-day no-sugar challenge in January — one that had her ex Diddy and her current love, Alex Rodriguez, leaving dueling comments on her Instagram, no less — Lopez’s midsection has never been trimmer. And she was ready to show it off on March 6, 2019 with a post of her wearing just a bra top and a pair of Jennifer Lopez x Niyama Sol yoga pants with her face printed on them.

Lopez is livin’ la vida crunches. Flaunting her ripped midsection in an October 2018 Instagram post, the singer wrote, “My life and career are centered around my passions and doing things that make me happy.” (Hence the promo for her Jennifer Lopez x Niyama Sol Vanguard leggings.) As her sometimes-trainer David Kirsch tells Us of J Lo’s legendary discipline, “When we’re younger, we sort of take things for granted, and then we get older and we become very respectful of our bodies and what we do, how we do it and what makes us feel good.”

“Current birthday situation…yup,” the Shades of Blue actress captioned a July 2018 Instagram post wearing a black string bikini that showed off her washboard stomach. As for getting her superfit body, “it doesn’t just happen,” says Kirsch. “You need good genetics and she is very, very disciplined about what she puts in her body. And she doesn’t drink — even though she is holding a bottle of champagne and I’m sure she is celebrating.”
