Julia Roberts and Chopard Celebrate Their Collaboration With a Star-Studded Dinner at Chateau Marmont

In an evening as high-wattage as the creations it celebrated, Chopard and Julia Roberts took over Chateau Marmont on Friday night to celebrate their inaugural collaboration. The partnership unveiled a parure co-designed by the maison’s co-president and artistic director, Caroline Scheufele, and Julia Roberts, Chopard’s global ambassador.

The collaboration, which includes a ring, a necklace, and a pair of earrings, is a tribute to Chopard’s Insofu Emerald, an extraordinary 6,225 carat emerald discovered in Zambia’s Kagem mine. The collection proudly features the first stones to have been cut from the Insofu.

“Caroline immediately caught my attention when she told me the story of her exceptional Insofu Emerald,” Roberts said in a press release. “It was such an exciting challenge when she later proposed we work on a bespoke design, and together, we’ve had a lot of fun bringing this set into reality, creating jewelry that’s beautiful, sustainable, and mixes the timeless allure of emerald with stunning colors and a stone I cherish, the turquoise.”

Roberts has long been a friend to the maison, even prior to her role as global ambassador, and the deep connection between her and Scheufele was evident in their rapport. Raising their glasses to the evening, the two seemed like old friends reunited.

As Scheufele recounted the story behind the collaboration, designing with the Insofu emerald, Roberts playfully interjected. “Which was the biggest [emerald] ever… which is the only way Caroline rolls. She’s like, if it’s not the biggest or the best, I’m not interested. I don’t want to give your secrets away, but there are only 140 people here.”

Sir Elton John, who was seated between the two, then grabbed the mic, “[Julia] will be lucky if she leaves the dinner tonight with that necklace on because I’m sitting next to her, okay? I’ve got my eyes on it.” Roberts and Scheufele closed the speech toasting International Women’s Day. “To all the ladies, particularly lady number one for me, my collaborator and friend, enjoy the night. And all you gents hold us up a little higher tonight,” said Roberts.

The evening unfolded over shared plates of arancini, Caesar salad, and Chilean sea bass. At one point, a fashion show ensued, where models weaved through the tables in gleaming Chopard jewelry and the new range of couture that Scheufele unveiled at the 76th Cannes Film Festival last May.

The night drew to a close, with guests enjoying their final bites of berries and cream before heading out to the myriad parties kicking off Oscars weekend in Los Angeles. But no matter where guests were headed next, a dinner with Julia Roberts and Chopard stood unmatched.
