Have you ever noticed how much Liam Neeson is seen on the phone in his films? To celebrate his latest flick The Commuter releasing this week on Blu-ray and DVD, we’ve pulled together a picture gallery of some of his classic and most iconic phone scenes – enjoy!
THE COMMUTER
Neeson plays an insurance salesman named Michael who – on his daily commute home – is contacted by a mysterious stranger (Vera Farmiga), and forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop.
Unwittingly caught up in this criminal conspiracy, the mysterious stranger rings Michael’s phone numerous times, providing instructions on what he needs to do, working against the clock to solve the puzzle.
NON-STOP
Air marshal Bill Marks (Neeson) springs into action during a transatlantic flight after receiving a series of text messages demanding $150 million into an off-shore account, or someone will die every 20 minutes.
UNKNOWN
Dr. Martin Harris (played by Neeson) awakens from a coma, only to discover that someone has taken on his identity and that no one, (not even his wife), believes him. With the help of a young woman, he sets out to prove who he is – where we see him make a call from a phone booth (as opposed to a mobile phone)!
TAKEN
One of the most iconic moments of Neeson seen on the phone is in TAKEN! Playing a retired CIA agent, he travels across Europe and relies on his old skills to save his estranged daughter, who has been kidnapped while on a trip to Paris.
Speaking to her kidnappers (who has picked up his daughter’s mobile phone), he speaks the line: “I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want.
If you’re looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career.
Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you and I will kill you”. CLASSIC!
TAKEN 2
In the second installment of the TAKEN films, retired CIA operative Bryan Mills and his wife are taken hostage in Istanbul by the father of a kidnapper Mills killed while rescuing his daughter. With his daughter back at the hotel room, Mills (Neeson) uses his mobile phone to speak to her on how to find them to rescue them.
TAKEN 3
In the third and final installment, ex-government operative Bryan Mills is accused of a ruthless murder he never committed or witnessed.
As he is tracked and pursued, Mills brings out his particular set of skills to find the true killer and clear his name, seen on the phone once again several times to his daughter, and to Detective Franck Dotzler – who informs him: “If you go down this road, the LAPD, the FBI, the CIA… they’re all gonna come for you.
They’ll find you. And they’ll stop you”, to wish Neeson replies with the famous one-liner from the first TAKEN film: “Good luck”.
A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES
Private investigator Matthew Scudder (Neeson) is hired by a drug kingpin to find out who kidnapped and murdered his wife. As you can guess – he uses a phone to speak to the kidnappers!
