Liam Neeson enjoyed a night out on Sunday as he joined the crowds to watch the New York Rangers take on the Los Angeles Kings at Madison Square Garden.

The acclaimed actor, 70, appeared in high spirits for the hockey game, laughing alongside former pro Henrik Lundqvist int he stands.

Dressed in a dark ensemble, he sported a navy polo shirt with a black coat on top – flashing a thumbs up to onlookers.

It was a winning night for the at home Rangers as they took the win with a 5-2 victory, which was sure to leave Liam, who was in their section of fans, pleased.

Despite hailing from Northern Ireland’s Ballymena, Liam now resides in a luxurious upstate New York home – and has taken to the local team.

Also in attendance was actor Billy Magnussen, who stood out in the crowd as he backed the team.

The Into The Woods actor put on an animated display as he pulled a slew of facial expressions while watching.

Leaving no questions on which team he was backing, Billy sported a bright blue, red and white sweatshirt with the New York Rangers logo emblazoned on the front.

Watching the two teams collide, Liam laughed alongside pal Henrik, who looked smart in a cream double breasted coat and black high-neck jumper.

Henrik played his his entire 15-season career with the New York Rangers, so was over the moon to see then grab another win.

Joining the star-studded turnout to watch the game was former professional racer Marcus Ericsson, who was the 2022 Indianapolis 500 winner. He appeared on the talk show last week to promote his starring role in Marlowe but things took an awkward turn.

The segment mostly focused on host Joy Behar’s love for Neeson and included a montage of clips that showed her making on-air comments such as: ‘I would just like to have my ashes sprinkled over Liam Neeson.’

Referencing his famous film Taken one of her co-hosts even joked: ‘Joy wants to get taken by you’, prompting her to quote Neeson’s famous line from the movie: ‘I will find you and I will kill you.’

But while the audience laughed, Neeson didn’t seem to see the funny side to the comment and looked rather stony-faced.

In reaction to the interview he has now told Rolling Stone: ‘I was in the dressing room drinking a cup of tea, turned the TV up, and I thought, oh, this will be great. They’re talking about gun violence in America, and I agree that it’s an American problem.

‘I go onstage and join the ladies during the break, and I was congratulating them on this discussion.

‘And then our segment starts, and it’s just all this BS with Joy and Liam Neeson and having a crush, and I’ve known Whoopi for years and Joy a little bit, but I just wasn’t impressed.

‘I’m uncomfortable in those situations, you know?’

He did add though that he managed to have a ‘good, intelligent conversation’ with cohost Sunny Hostin, 54, after the embarrassing interaction.
